Subscribed! I owned two '55 210 2 dr sedans back in the 70s, and a high school friend had a '55 Bel-Air 2 dr hdtp with a straight axle. This brings back some happy memories!

Apparently you only like gassers if they are Darts and belong to you?

  5. As far as I'm concerned, '55 Chevys were born so they could all be GASSERS!

  18. DUDE! No dougnuts in a Gasser man! Let Jim Rockford, & Luke n Duke Kook take care of that. You'll get your "Gasser Licsense" revoked! Let the squids do the dougnuts

Here we have Stevens awesome wheel selection:

We swapped out the original rear end and got rid of the old springs for some new made in the USA leafs. Sorry for the bad picture...

I then set the rear end on jack stands which sat the axle at the same height as the wheel center.

I traced the wheel onto the quarter panel.

I then took my air saw and defaced the side of this 55 haha.

This gave me a rough cut and allowed me to mount the wheel. I then tried to settle the springs as much as i could

I then measured off mounted tire marked it a little bigger and cut it more. This next rough cut gave me an idea of the radius I will use.. I plan to roll some new wheel well edges then match them to this radius and cut out bigger about where the dotted line is. I will butt weld them in here with my trusty tig.

I bounced over to the front clip. Its a fiberglass from scotts. It comes with extra material that you have to cut off. I trimmed it up to I got it to roughly fit.

Then we got her on its feet and took some pics.

The ride height will need some adjustment. The springs will settle and the motor will lower the front. I will get into that later.

Next episode we will be finishing wheel wells and then making a tilt front end mount for the front clip.
