Kind of silly but I was thinking of going to the pick n pull, scavenge a foldable cup holder and hide it in my ashtray. Anyone have any kool idea of cup holders?

In my old VW I made a cup holder out of another ashtray. I welded a ring to it the size of a regular drink cup, and kept in under my seat. When I needed it, I just took out the ashtray and slid in the cup holder.

In my Packard, I just took of the inspection plate on the trans tunnel. It's the perfect size for my favorite coffee cup, and keeps my drink warm to boot!

Or there's the old roll of duct tape on the floor method.... But I like your idea better. My girlfriends little Honda (an Accord, I think? Early 90s?) has a Pop out cup holder that's pretty small and nondescript that would be almost unnoticed in your daily driver.

Holy shite that's awesome - looks kinda like a screaming robot! What'd you source the taillights and panel from?

Totally stealing that one. I need something to hide a shifter mech and something to hold my coffee.

I had a giant gear but forget to get it out of my 1957 Chevy truck when I sold it.

I really miss that cup holder. :(

i saw a guy who made a center console with two cup holders and a coin tray out of a oil pan! i thought that was pretty sweet! thought about doing it myself, but i dont want to give up my bench seat!

  13. I use those cheap plastic ones from the parts store and put a big hose clamp on them so cups won't fall out of them. Like one off an air cleaner inlet hose. Cost under $5 if you scavenge the clamp at a junkyard or off a clunker.

This is fantastic! But, those look like '65 Impala tail lights. Isn't the HAMB cut-off date '64?

  20. Conversion vans sometimes have a deal that looks like an ashtray, but you open it and it has a ring that folds up with the cover folded down to serve as a cupholder. If you had a flat place to put it, that might work. Biggest problem I see is the covers get brittle and break with age. Cover is plastic so paint to match your interior.

Not to mention that looks like a light beer. Those didn't become common until the seventies, right?

Since my car is so darn narrow, my buckets are about 3" apart, and perfect to stuff a cup inbetween the seats. Sits there just fine with no cupholder.
