"Way Back Story"
Right after high school let out one summer, 4 of us went on a camping trip.
Being the plan was to go all the way across state;>
{Florida, from Miami/Coconut Grove to Bonita Springs beach to camp} We decided to use Steve's 30A 2D Sedan{ that still had 4-banger at the time}. We packed up all the crap we thought we needed ,most of it on to my one wheel dolly trailer that clamped on too rear bumper. About 60 miles out side of Miami on Tamiami Trail,= mid of no were. Steve's 30 A, left rear axle broke.
We sent Pete,to hitch hike back to Frog City* to use the phone<about 30 miles back,he got a ride in a rusty pick-up with 2 drunk Seminole Indians,to the lonely tourist trap with phone!*.
The phone number there= "Frog City 5". Took us two days to fix it,had to have Steve's Mom,bring us both spair axles Steve had in the shade at home{ knowing Steve's Mom didn't know left from right axle,just had Pete tell her to bring both. Before Mom got there ,the next AM with the parts,; Highway Patrol stopped,and told us ,"You fools can't camp here!!#$@$%^&" ,but after telling him what happened ! He said OK,but if your here tomorrow when I come by,I'm calling tow-truck,an haul this junk off an you'all with it.
We did get'er fixed,an went on to camp in the woods just off Bonita beach.> That's hole other story, but camp site of Steve,Terry,Pete an I,,can be seen in pics.

 

Anything with a dog (or cat) in your ride or in the shop. Doesn't matter. JMO

I was born in 1960. My favorite era is the 1960's drag racing scene. It was the most creative span of ingenuity and innovation in hotrodding history.

Our club started inviting a group of long time friends for a "Cars & Coffee" gathering in a nearby park while distancing during Covid. Such a welcome relief while the pandemic was happening that we have continued to meet every Friday morning.. ;-)

As a long time fan of the Hirohata Merc, and knowing it is resting in someone's collection, roped off and in a warehouse, this shot of the car on the road trip to Indianapolis always makes me grin.

Small journal steel crank, rods, 2.02 camel hump head castings, valves, springs, retainers, pushrods, "O" stamped rocker arms, "151" cam, Winters intake, GM numbered and dated "3245" (Nova specific) Holley carb restored by Holleys custom shop, NOS Delco distributor, GM open element air cleaner, aluminum water pump, Delco fuel pump, front sump oil pan, pump, etc.
Assembled late 80's, never fired, I know, call me weird!

 

My Wife and I were enjoying the museum, when I whispered in her ear "That's him!"
She then walks over and asks "Can I get a shot of you two?"
