That is one of my alltime favorite 60's style cars. That car has so many neat little details on it. It looks even better with the chop. I'm really glad that they rebuilt it just like it was before it got totaled, Except that they forgot to chop it . This is the car that I'm thinking of, right?

As much as it kills Me about what was sacrificed to build this car, it does have a great stance,........
it actually has more rake but the picture's were crooked
    [IMG]

And here is the sacrifice,........ a true 50's survivor,... well it was anyway, this has steamed me for almost 30 years.

Poteet's 5-window built by Dave Lane is one of my favorites.

I don't have a 32 coupe but I would happily trade for one,

at any rate you did ask for A coupes on duece rails,

so here is a pic of mine, nevermind the rust, alot of people have commented on the stance,

as well as it illustrates having the tire fit the wheel well and still be low and have a rake. the tire is actually centered in the wheel well, just not at this angle in the pic. parralax

personally I would not channel the car, I have driven many miles and never been uncomfortable. yet I have had many other guys with channeled cars get in mine and remark how much room there is. If you like to drive long distance, comfort will become a factor.

if you are interested I will give you the chassis specs

anyhow good luck with your project

Redbeard, Nice car, nice photo, what is the hood from? Looks longer than an A hood, really adds to the overall look.

Sinister, the Tognotti coupe was owned by a seattle collector.
Wish I could have taken you to his collection.
(the neon will kill you)(huge dealer signs)
When he first got it it was bright red and had a big block chevy in it.
It has a wacky front end.
Suicide perch near the end of the frame horns. The stock front crossmember is still in it.
When they were rebuilding the car I sold them a ton of parts.
    Like the 392 hemi,37 Plymouth trans,open drive banjo,A spring.etc..
I have a framed picture they fed ex'd me when they were trying to figure out the steering.Cool old black and white. Can't see any steering in the pic.
He was pissed when he didn't win at P.Beach (he's a regular) in competion coupe against the So-Cal,Pierson Bros.cars. ...

  11. Imagine, for a moment, if the busby coupe was in American Graffiti instead of the yellow one.

Some beautiful car here, and I don't go for the channel thing either, for resons already mentioned. Unfortunately like most people, owning mutiples is not an option!

The Busby coupe is perfection..., if you aim for a fifties style five-window.
I guess you don't want two sixties style coupes in your garage, otherwise this one is prime inspiration material:

    or...

Otherwise, Bo Bertilsson (who occasionally writes for R&C) is building a channeled 5W that will be bitchin'. Sorry for the poor quality, I snagged this one from a magazine:

Axle dropped five inches, split '46 bones, frame rails notched for spring clearance, 18" deuce wheels, which this image manages to show clearly... ;) :

Did anyone mention Hop Up #4?

If you don't have it, you need it. In fact, you need ALL the Hop Ups!

There is an article that clearly compares the stance of the cars on the cover (3W and 5W). Unfortunately, it's so long ago, the price is climbing on the issue. Still, SideValve still apparently has some in stock.

Oh man, that would've been GREAT!!! I didn't STUDY it enough back when I saw it......:(
Ya know, I help a sign maker make repo neon dealer/garage type signs. He makes the metal pans and I do all the vinyl work. Then we have a guy do the neon. Anyway, a guy up north, Snohomish I think, has a TON of neon signs in his 'shop', along with alot of cars. I haven't been there but have seen the pics. He wants a bunch of various signs made for various auto brands.......I wonder if it's the same guy???? Hmmmmmmm......:)

  19. Jeff, love your car's attitude... always thought it was channeled on A rails though?

The other complication with my 5w is that it was originally built as a channeled car, thus the rear framehorns were bobbed; continentaljohn unchanneled it, moving the subframe back in stock highboy position. I also want to run a QC (Cyclone or Hot Rod Works repop).

If the car is channeled I would probably want the wheel wells relocated up and would lose trunk space to the gas tank.

If it's a highboy, it's almost necessary to run a '32 tank; thus I'd need replacement rear frame horns (I really want to keep the original rails), and a QC means notching the tank for clearance.

Either way, quite a bit of work...

    Sinister,not the same.
    Snohomish-Lange I would guess.
The guy owns a big construction company, his collection is in Ballard.
He has a really cool Oldsmobile dealer sign with a rocket on it.
The neon circles of exhaust out the back strobe down.
    It's cool and huge !

Wow, I know I went back and forth Channel, no channel, channel, no channel, channel , no channel but one thing I do know this purple does it for me.. I have the issue of Hot Rod from the late 50 with it on the cover.. I also lean towards the black highboy, wicked car.. I have to say it's good to see her(coupe) in great hands..
Oh yea it need this motor too:D

Yep, sure is,...... I posted pictures of the purple 5/W in the past, it's a shame that car was pillaged to build another version of the Graffiti Coupe, but the demise of a lot of "survivors" took place in the 70's,.... but if you could have just seen the detail and craftsmanship of this car before it was torn apart it would bother you to., ( there wasn't very many cars built to this quality in the 40's and 50's)

It took me forever to figure out how to post pics. When you post a reply find the button for "manage attachments" and click on it. It's pretty easy from there, just keep in mind the relatively small file size requirements. Good luck!
