dont get excited, these pix were taken in 81 at campbellsville ky and i just found them, i asked the guy where he got them, and he said, people just got tired of them sitting around and drug them into him, prices were 400 and up, with the 57 convert at 1000.00
That's cool..........never figured it would be like that in the 80s! Of course now their either ground into rust, completely disassembled, cataloged and priced out of this world..........or crushed.
i would love to have all of them and the 57 chevy convertible. some of them could s till be their.thanks
Those were the days. You could find running, driving orginal paint/interior drivers in the '80s. Classic Chevy International scrapped tons of stuff people would fight over today.
You want to be sick, my buddy in 1981 was buying 55-57 Chevys from a junkyard that was going out of business - for $5, $10, $25 if it was really complete and halfway decent. 2-doors, with motors, sometimes a power-pak car... of course, he'd have to spend a day freeing up the wheels to tow them home, but still.... that just doesn't exist anymore, I think I have what was the last 55-57 2-door hardtop in a salvage yard in this area, and I got it because it was a piece of crap and fairly well hidden.
Cool pics. I didn't know they were that cheap back then. I only got into cars around 86 when I was 16, and I remember tri five chevys were way too expensive for me to consider. Well at least the one near my house that was for sale!! I did make a deal on a 67 fastback 6cyl with new paint for $1100 but it got sold out from under me for a few more bucks. Instead I got a 71 TR6 that rarely worked LOL Still wish I'd got that fastback.
Yup, could buy them cheap in the 80's. Got the one on my avatar for $450.00 . Now it's $7500 for crap.
i live an hour away SOME are still there , my wife is from there so i'm in the area quite often but i have never stopped. What the hell is wrong with me?
My Dad had a chance at a 57 Convertible in the late 70s with factory 283 2x4 set up for $700 running and driving. He passed because it had some rust down low. I Still like to remind him about it occasionally. I also cry about the 69 Camaro RS/SS 396 4 speed he wouldnt loan me $500 for in the mid eighties.
There used to be a line of tri-fives sitting along the road at the North end of Cimarron, NM. No idea if they're still there. I haven't been out that way for seven or eight years.
yes there are 2 doors and no on prices i just wanted the 57 chevy convertible.and no 39-46 chevy/gmc trucks. thanks
Ha,ha Thats Charles Nolleys, Hes about 15 minutes from me and Hes still got a bunch of em but most are gettin pretty far gone these days, and hes got em priced up to what there worth if he prices one at all. Notice the red 57 nomad towards the far end of the row,It was one of the nicer ones I remember as a kid in the 80s and remember someone getting it back then. There use to be a little ice cream place across the road that was called the Brown jersey, I would admire the cars from there while eating ice cream with my parents and brother and sisters as a kid. I swear this looks just like the 4 door 55 I bought in Etown a few years ago, It could very well be the same one but I never new Charles once had it. It didnt look as good 20ish years later and Im not to sure it did after I got through with it???
cool makes me wonder what happened to an old tri five chevy yard in Arizona my uncle saw in the early 80s, back then he really didnt think much of em
