I got a question. So I'm at the stage of my build where I'm trying to put my engine and transmission in the car and build mount and I'm following your advice and building front engine mounts out of square tubing and I was wondering what are you using for a rear transmission mount I saw on your post that you used some side-by-side mounts for the transmission but since we're running aluminum turbo 350 and 400 I didn't think that we could do that. I ordered a Chevy convertible rear transmission mount for a turbo 350 conversion because the Chevy convertible has an X frame similar to our Pontiacs so I figured that would be a good place to start. Would like your thoughts

Pontiac in a Pontiac, like it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! If you happen to see an extra pair of front seat skirts, let me know, a buddy needs a pair for a 56 Safari that he is working on.

This is a week old but since no one addressed it...........I'm using a Muncie 4 speed but we simply built a simple mount.

Making a few small changes, i picked up an old set of skinny slots so I can have some proper tires for racing at 125 mph+. Also got ahold of a nice insert for the hood ornament that will be lit 20161216_122642.jpg 20161220_132246.jpg 20161220_132233-1.jpg

The ornament is for a higher level Starchief, the Chieftain sedan would have got the plain airplane looking piece without an insert . So it doesn't really belong on a a sedan or don't know about a gasser either, but I sure like the way it looks. Can't wait to get it mounted and lit up in the dark. My tach backlight is wired so anytime the car is running is on so I don't have to mess with lighting switch, will wire up the hood ornament the same way.

Yup, I agree. If you ever run night drags it'll be cool as hell shining up there in the front.

Speaking of tachs I have been tossing the idea of getting a gto hood tach and putting it on my 56 Pontiac. Any thoughts?

Lost 3rd in the trans and ended up with one with a transbrake. Got a nice pic from the Meltdown Drags , been waiting to get the wheels off the ground nice. I'm told it went up higher than the pic. Best pass was a 10.56. 20170716_125514.jpg

Yes it did, should have a good pic from someone from the night racing that will show up good. The pass also had my best 60 ft with a 1.40
