Love how this car turned out. Looks like an absolute blast to drive. The tri-x came out awesome. Lighting was perfect between rain storms.

Dig the video even if it's just an opening. We got to the host parking lot just in time to walk around the corner and see him take delivery.

While I'll be honest it was already on my list of cars to find that night Inwas not prepared for the sensory effects.

You see in the photos there's a lot you can't see, a lot you can't feel.

I walked up and saw the paint was rougher than I thought it was, the chrome aged and showing some battle scars. It felt legitimate.

Got to about the front fender walking around and you said "the guys things it's to loud but man I love it" hopped in and fired it off. It was all over. This car had eaten my brain. The damn thing even smelt right, yeah that's a weird thing to say but it's true. You know what a hot rod is supposed to smell like.

I walked around a bit before the rain really shut it down for the night looking for the car hiding in some back corner of the lot so I could get another look at found Randman beaming with joy. I think he was probably even more impressed and surprised with the vibe this thing put off than I was.

Fucking home run guys. I love it and it's honestly got me pretty fired up, so I guess thanks for that :)

Thanks man... And yeah, this is totally my kind of car. It's casual. It's got soul. It's legitimate. I love everything about it...

  5. Same here, it was one of the cars I was looking forward to seeing at the drags. Actually caught Randman at the car in the pits and he was kind enough to let me check it out thoroughly, especially that insert fabric. The whole thing turned out awesome. Like you said, its got soul!

That car wears like an old pair of jeans, or tennis shoes, perfect. You guys did a helluva job on that. Congrats to all involved.

Well done, the caps and upholstery fit the era just right.

  10. Such a killer car. I was stoked when it first came out that this would be full rendered, and the end result is perfect. Great photos Ryan, they turned out really well!

I'm excited to see what gets dreamt up for the phaeton body that you guys have...

Very nice , Looks like a driver for sure...

  14. Does that thing have mufflers? Sounds like straight pipes. Be honest, is it too much noise? I'm gonna put running board exit pipes on mine and I've thought about straight pipes, but I plan to drive this thing long distances at a sustained 2500 rpm.

I know Ben thinks it's too loud... Me? I think it's perfect.

Oh it's loud alright. Too loud for baby and momma. I've already ordered some parts to put baffles in it. [IMG]

Out of curiosity how loud is it on the highway? I know some cars that are loud because of the exhaust driving around town are only loud on the highway because of road noise.

The side exit exhaust shouldn't drum under the car but it does exit pretty close, front to back any how, to your ears so you might catch the noise before it gets pulled back.

I think it sounds great personally but I'm not the one driving it on long hauls ;)

I didn't mind the sound on the highway, until somebody called. Had to pull over. Impossible to shout over the exhaust.

I want to say thanks to Keith Tardel, Ryan, Ben and Cato. I love the car.

this is one of those shots, that brings me to another place/time.......
can't stop looking at it. i think it is all the original car stuff and the added "indicators" that tell you it's customized

  23. Though, to be fair, it left the shop with 30 or so miles on it, and Ben did drive it 500+ miles, didn't he?

Man oh Man I love the stance on that car.

Having driven a couple hundred thousand miles with loud pipes that exit in front of the rear tire on various rigs including my 48 with both side pipes (70's version) and burned out glass packs and short pipes dumping in front of the rear tire it can get old on the long roads even if you love hearing it bark off the Johnson barriers once in a while.

It's crazy when you think about it... This car was never really test driven to work out any bugs that you would typically find on a new build. Instead, this happened:

    1. It was driven to the upholstery shop: 15 miles
    2. It was driven back to the shop from the upholstery shop: 15 miles
    3. It was driven for my little opening video: 2 miles
    4. It was driven to the HAMB Drags: 686 miles
    5. It was driven to the track: 16 miles
    6. It was raced twice: 1/2 mile
    7. It was driven home to Arkansas: 75 miles

And as far as I know, there were two issues on the whole trip:

    1. The rear end needs to be raised a bit for a little more suspension travel.
    2. The seat might or might not need to be moved back a few inches.

Think about that... That's just crazy.... and a real testament to Keith in my opinion.
