Just ordered my copy of Hot Rod Harry & Hot Rod Cowboy's "Saturday Night Drag Race"...better get yours while the gettin's good!
The advertising is so simple, yet tells a large story. Now if Andy Warhol had done to Hot Rod Art like he did to Campbell soups, no one could afford an old Hot Rod magazine
HRM really was great back then, and for decades thereafter. But I gotta say I am somewhat disgruntled with it the last few years. It's not just because I'm not very interested in the newer stuff. What really turns me off is pages and pages of self-promotion of their events (Drag Week, etc). Faithful subscriber since June 1967, and I have them all, read every one of them cover to cover (geez, that's 584 issues!) but I am close to not renewing. Maybe one more year so I'll have 50 years' worth. I figure when I'm too old and decrepit to wrench and drive any more, I can reread all my old car magazines, relive the memories. PS - I do like Hot Rod Deluxe.
I understand they have to publish what sells but don't forget where it started , I too favor HOT ROD DELUXE, pick it up when ever I can, I did have a subscription and for got to renew, I have a reprint of the 1st HOT ROD magazine VOL.1 NO 1 price $.25 January 1945, There was some promotion to subscribe for 3 year package ,you got a Free HOT ROD T-shirt cool looking, and the reprint George Barris even had a ad .
