Full fendered and not chopped but clearly built for racing (look at that steering box placement!) A real oddity from the golden age.
Is that tail pipe rack really hanging off the rearend housing? Guess that would be OK for short runs on flat ground.
Everything about it is so right! Would love to see a color shot of it. Sierra Gold on a '34 sounds killer.
The first caption in the third image that says that the left side door is welded shut, but the first image seems to show it wide open. Odd. That aside, it's quite a nice car with some really interesting details.
There's never been a coupe that I didn't want to see severely chopped, especially 33-34's. Great car! Another one I don't remember ever seeing before.
Doubt if this one was restored, too many holes to fill! Bet those pipes sounded great, hope there was some flex in 'em.
AMAZING!!!! THIS JUST BLOWS ME AWAY!! I knew Benny well,, watched them work on that 34. We were classmates at Riverside Poly High and oh what a time we had back then! We used to cruise all over in our deuces, he in his gold roadster along with Harry Hopkins deuce and me in my 2 dr. [My avatar pic was taken in 58'. I was lucky to be around guys like that, Riverside had a lot of hot rod =errr= activity back then. we used to hang out at 'TUXIES drive in', and if any of you inland empire guys are reading this, jump in.
The push bar on the diff also seems a little harsh, eh? Those diff mounted tail pipes must have had flexi-connectors at the front some place. Gary
Another interesting fact. 39cent, a hamber here, knew Benny. He indicated Benny was the first to ever use Moon Disks on the street in California. Maybe he will chime in. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/threads/moon-disc-history.697780/#post-7759947
