Kansas City area H.A.M.Bers, who are you?

Recently talking about building a gas rail for MO-Kan this year and wondered how many people in the Kansas City area would be interested in getting involved. Then thought, what the heck we need to get together anyway and get acquainted. Lets find out

KCMongo is about five blocks from my house.

What do you have in mind?

If not anything else, then perhaps a winter time get-together so we can get to know each other, seems some of you already do. Anyplace would be nice, maybe a few adult beverages at a favorite watering hole, anything.


Johnny Rays used to host drive-ins all during the spring and summer but lately the local business people got to complaining about the "loud cars" . They haven't hosted a get-together in over a year, but if some people show up to buy a burger and visit, Oh well, if you get the drift.

Our ulterior motive to all this would be to maybe get a car ready for next summer for Mo-Kan to represent the K.C. area.... you know a joint effort by the community.

 

I've been wanting to build a digger for the class, but haven't got to it yet. I've got a motor and some other stuff for it.
When do you want to meet?
Someone needs to head up the scheduling and or plans for a meet and greet.

A couple of months ago, I had a HAMb potluck at my house for a few Hambers.

It looks to me there are a lot of KC area Hambers. I remember last fall a get together at BB's Lawn & BBQ, because of other things (band) I was unable to go. That might be a go place to go, if I remember right, good food, adult drinks and a large parking lot. My 40 does'nt run right now so don't put me in charge of anything at this time.

We actually had a get together this last fall at the raven's in Independence.

I'm in south KC and if someone wants to get together before the 18th I'm game. probably better drop me a PM, it seems i always misss the important stuff.

I spent a couple of hours with nitro brother from Lees Summit this afternoon. Pretty good guy.

Jeff here. I'm just outside of Bonner Springs out in the county.

 

VonDad lives in Waynesville, and my Mom still lives on the east side

East 18th street and Ewing to be in the close neighborhood.

We're up to come up and help on a weekend if possible.

Don't forget 'Econo45' . he is in KC MO and has EVERYTHING to build chassis, bodies, narrow rearends,..anything you can even THINK of, he has it and has been there done it..... from Top Fuel Funny Cars to Army Helments.

 

Hmmm - sounds like someone to know - I'd love to learn how to work sheetmetal into a body... heck just to be able to fab up some stake pockets for the F2...

I was alterted to the thread from another member here - and thought I'd check in - I'll pitch in and do whatever I can on an rail for the drags... Too bad most of my stuff is way too new to be legal in the HA/GR class.

I'd also be willing to host an afternoon BBQ / get together if we get a nice weekend soon - got plenty of parking space for everyone and a big grill would just have to watch for a nice weekend... Heck maybe a planning session and bbq combo.

 

I have a Model T frame and a Model A front end I'll make available for the effort.

Yea, we live in the south KC area. And I can find you any thing car part wise at my "super secret" junkyards. Why don't we get something together at the end of January? To meet for beverages/mid-west beef and chat about getting a HA/GR to beat the "Okie's" or if the "Cali" boys show up.

Ok then, it looks like we are getting closer to a time frame, late January looks like it. Being's it's New Year's Eve I can't really plan much tonight but let's look for a weekend, maybe the third Saturday for a meet n greet. Throw out some more locations, so far........ BB's and bwiencek's place....

This is starting to look good and appears we have a lot of resources for getting a HA/GR entry built for this summer too. That might be one of the major topics at the get together.

I live up the road a'piece in Omaha but I come down to KC for HAMB stuff occasionally. I want in although I don't have any drag race stuff [except a dual point Mallory distributor to donate to the "cause" if you can run a sbc chevy or a 49-53 ford flathead V/8] and already know most of the Missouri HAMBers. It's always cool to get together for a good BS session tho...
