    Silent Rick, this is true....
the dates are not set in stone, but we have to weigh the 25 cars that we will lose from Newport Hill Climb versus the thousands of spectators that were lost due to the nationally televised auction held 30 miles away. Mecum is a beast we simply can not compete with.....
When I asked my boss at Mecum about the turnout they had this year, he told me the only problems they had were parking spectators - because they had too many! You may not think the spectators that go to that show go to ours.....but I know MANY that went to Mecum and did not come to our event.

yes - the dates have shifted quite a bit for Mecum....
when I first started that auction was the third weekend in Sept, then it was third weekend in Oct...
now it is second weekend in Oct and they are staying on that date.

coolstuff, you didn't miss too many. We need to include the Hot Rod Reunion in Bakersfield on Oct 17 -19 and the SEMA show in Vegas in November.

I sure wish I got to go to all of these.
Hoping to get my new car "done" enough to get it to torquefest...be there either way...but hopefully have the 53 done, and then actually get to more of these than I did this year, since Ill have a car with windows, wipers, hood...some high class shit this time.
    Cant wait for 2014 shows!

I'm looking for my next 'new to me' show.
I have been to the HAMB drags (2009,2010,2011), KKOA Salina KS (2009), Riddler in Detroit (2012) and the Round-Up this year. ALL OF THEM ARE FANTASTIC SHOWS, Great entertainment day and night.

I'm looking at the Hunnert Car Heads Up for 2014, but I was wondering aside from the Drag Racing, is there a show, is there good night life (like Congress Street in Austin)?

Other suggestions with-in a 10hr drive from St. Louis are welcomed. Overall I'm looking for HAMB Drags meets Round-Up.

    Thanks for the input!

Ask around and I think you will find a lot of people from St Louis make the trip up to Rust Revival.... the night life there is..... interesting.
I would also humbly suggest you make the trek to Dubuque for the Vintage Torque Fest. We have vintage racing on Saturday night, vintage flat track motorcycle racing on Friday night and a bit during the day on Saturday. Last year we had 20 bands.... There is no shortage of things to do at that show. Ask around to people who have been and they will say the same.

I looked at the master list at least 5 times. Then after I posted the NHRA dates, looked back up at the list and found it. I'm losing it, I guess.

What goes on on Sunday at the NHRA reunion?

Thanks for putting the list together.

The Gear Jam vintage drags, car show and swap meet in Commerce, Georgia on September 27.
The night before, the city puts on a huge party for it with cruising on the main drag, food vendors, a beer garden and live band.

Maybe interesting for the European Hambers:

Race 61 from 27th to 29th July in Finowfurt near Berlin, Germany

    http://www.racesixtyone.com/

Rust'n Dust Jalopy from 18th to 20th July in Teterow, Germany

    http://www.rustndustjalopy.de/

And always worth a visit: The Power Big Meet in Västeras, Sweden, from 3rd to 5th July, even though there are not only Hamb friendly cars there...
