Killer stuff Josh! Love the bike! The little character pieces have been great too (Get that
spider!!!)

Last week I posted a '40 pick-up I titled "Wrong Year". Well it wasn't the wrong year for at least one fellow HAMBer. He, being a good guy, requested one of his own with all the appropriate tweaks (and was willing to pay handsomely .) So I slung away with the pencil, adding just a hint of color to make it unique, and here is the result...

Hope you like what you see Harlan, I'll eMail you either tomorrow or this week end...

hello everyone! its been quite a while since i have had something worthy of the art show....but, i think you guys might enjoy this.

i found this 1959 buick invicta in the woods on our family's property while riding my atv last year. the rest of the car was half sunk in mud, and shot to hell from target practice. suprisingly the nose was still intact. had to have it!

brought it home and restored it, painted it hot rod black. just finished all the neon and finishing touches today.

i always thought it looked like a monster of some sort. i tried to bend the neon accordingly.

Well, here's a pic of Babe Ruth's Zephyr, no filters, no 'shop, just the raw photo as it was inside Gooding's tent on Sunday at Pebble Beach:

I made this lamp for my girlfriends dad. He had an extra set of handle bars and I had a gas tank that I built from scratch. I then built a mock tripple tree and backbone. I found an old headlight and wired a light in. I made the gas cap out of aluminum on the lathe. I buffed the raw steel to make it shine then I did a quick paint job. The last photo has my '35 in it just to keep things hamb related.

A pencil from me.
Steve Stanford takes all the credit for the Nova with the Corvair roof and Impala trim. I just added what a long roofer version would look like with Corrvair wagon roof. Sorry, couldn't get the whole sketch in the scanner.

Jigger, Mark, did an outstanding job! He nailed it!

Last Week when I saw his "Wrong Year" art, I sent him an email and asked if he would make some changes, I wanted to buy. He said he would see what he could do.

I sent him some pics and did not expect anything this fast. Thanks Mark, can't wait to get it. Seeing it here, first is truly a great surprise.

The art show is one of the best things on the HAMB, in my opinion.

Keep up the great work everybody!

brought it home and restored it, painted it hot rod black. just finished all the neon and finishing touches today.

i always thought it looked like a monster of some sort. i tried to bend the neon accordingly.

charly

Now that is cool beyond belief! Good way to save what was left of that poor old Buick.

A true artist...enjoy.
. . . . .

He used to go to all the
public functions...especially the picture theaters. And always
carried a Sugar Bag to collect empty bottles and cans.

His name was... Albert
(Tapper) Torney Everyone thought he was a bit eccentric and
kids would tease and hassle him. But it was discovered he was
very talented and only sold the empty bottles and some of the
cans.

After he died in 1998 (aged
86) His large collection of Model Cars he made from the
Aluminum Cans was discovered.

This goes to prove..."You
Shouldn't Judge A Book by its Cover", or a Sculptor by his
sugar bag.
Some of his collection ----

Lowcab: You mentioned it so here it is. Tiny of Tiny's Kustoms is putting together a new outrageously cool TV show about all the things we on the HAMB love. The world premiere will be during the Hot Rod Reunion in Bako and he needed a logo. So instead of asking any real artist, he came to my studio and wouldn't leave until I scratched this for him.

My wife and I pulled over one night to camp out in Mendocino. We took the '55 Chevy "Short" Wagon. I did a quick watercolor of our morning campsite after breakfast.

good stuff so far!!!! I look at all of it and dont normally like to point out specific work, but Mr. Pure Hell your piece speaks to me... its the design stuff that cranks me up.. and with that in mind, here is a little more stuff on the project Im working with Marcy on.. (in fact Im on the road with her right now, on outr way to Billetproof!)... so here it is, Riviera X, Marcys ride... some details have had to remain secret for now, hence the voids.. I suspect Ryan might have a comment about this??? I know you love the Rivy's, does this properly enhance an already beautiful design?

and BTW... I picked up the motor for Cometron yesterday

Don't know about the story first posted. I stumbled upon this guy from New Zealand selling plans to build your own can model with all the empties in the corner of the shop.

That thing is bad to the bone!

Love it and have thought about something like that for over the bar in my house. I never thought about all the neon though. That must have cost a pretty penny.

Thanks for posting, cool art and half truth... but you "CAN" judge a hoax with a "Google".....
Hate to crush the can story but according Al Gores super highway these are cans made by a a dude in New Zealand. But thanks for posting, they're cool to look at and make me thirsty and a little sad that all I can do is make 'em empty.

Lab Rat - very cool seeing what your cars shows have to offer - great pics - thanks for sharing them.

Harley Rider - those tin can models are great - so creative and well done.

A32Flathead - fabulous Pebble Beach shots.

johnybsic - Your girlfriend has just set the standard to be met or beaten by all cakes in the future.

Spoggie - very cool, different look to that watercolor.

Great photos Travis(TravisfromKansas) and Gabe(Krome)

Another great concept that I would love to own a real version of.

JohnnyJalopy - just as inventive and well done as always.

Excellent showing by everyone else too.

SWEET!!!! I remember the first day my folks bought their Electra. we went to Canada and the CAR was on the tow truck more than the highway. But it was still one of the most interestingly beautiful cars i have seen

Thank you Dan Greenberg. I also enjoy the spirit of discovery in the shutterbug kontributions.
Regards my watercolour, Yeh, a lil' slicker than most. I think I prefer 'em loose.

Wow you guys! Thanks so much for all the kind words! I kind of dragged that project out longer than I should have. Most of the work was done in the evenings in my back yard this summer because it was so friggin hot.....But it was worth it!!

....next up, 1965 galaxie 500

Someone needs to buy Neon Charly's creation and open "The Invicta Bar & Grille".
Or..."The Invicta Grille".

Spoggie, Do you have to think harder to successfully paint a "simpler" one?

Thanks for the kind words about my photos.

Dan G, thank you for the compliments, means a lot.

brought it home and restored it, painted it hot rod black. just finished all the neon and finishing touches today.

i always thought it looked like a monster of some sort. i tried to bend the neon accordingly.

Super show everyone! Love Jen's series of 4, the bad ass Buick front end, and the gorgeous red/black Edsel at KKOA was the buzz of the show. Coolsville visited again! ~sololobo~

X2!
- Enjoying the '40 Jigger.. the details.. the subject seems to suit your style. HAMB perfect!

Tom Davison- Interesting question! I detect the opposite; I know it's possible to 'over- think' a picture to the point where it becomes 'wooden'.
The best ones have a natural flow- I have such a one in the pipe for next week.
