I'm looking for some cover's from 66,67,68. My old man had a Heavy Gold Flaked 57 Vette (Gasser/show car) That was on the cover of Popular Hot Rodding.. (He thinks it was PHR and thinks it was 67) If anybody has an old collection laying around I would love to find out what issue it was on so I can start my search for the mag to buy for him.. He is slowly coming around to the darkside and his dreams of Concourse Restored Vette's are a distant memory (he restored many of the for many years). And is thinking of re-creating this, his first Vette again.. So if anybody has info on it let me know..
The car was owned by Joel Lauman of Cincinnati Ohio (builder of the car we think) before he got in 71/2. My pop then sold it to Doug Baker, also out of Cincy then it went thru many hands then the current owner restored it back to original condition, black exterior, red interior BOOOOHOOOOO... Anyway any help would rock.. Oh and if you have a 56/7 vette (no restored cars please roller/projects is what we are looking for) out there and interested in maybe selling it let me know;)...

Have patience. It isn't like the person who might be able to help you is sitting right by the computer with all those mags at his side. :D

I have a collection of hot rod as well as other mags from that time period. I got them in a couple of crates. I will check the covers to see if I find the one you are talking about. The only problem is I'm out of town until next weekend. So, hopefully you can wait till then.

[IMG] Here it is...There is a two page feature in the magazine on the Vette. The binding is a bit worn so I could not scan the feature.

Well that's pretty good. Less than 4 hours, you found out what year and month mag it was in and a source to buy that mag.

Is there anymore pictures of the car ? I also might have the same magazine but will have to hunt through boxes of mags to find it .

I'd have to dig through over 100 boxes to find it. I can't remember if I kept all of the Popular Hot Rodding from that era though.

Gave it to the old man tonight and he is stoked! I hope he remembers how much fun he had way back when and gets off his rear and finds him a car soon. I keep looking for him, he'll I would trad my 31 coupe and my 64 f-100 for a good project vette now (pre-68) of course.lol ryan
