Great to see pictures of the '49 Ford and Kaiser (Blue Champagne) of Oakland Swanx members Gary Elmore and Johnny Johnson. Johnny later went on to build a much more radical Kaiser called Pink Champagne.
Leroy French was later a member of the San Rafael Swanx with that same '49 Plymouth.
Ive never seen some of these shots, were they all taken by Dannys Dad?

  5. Any more pics & info on the spinners & 53 merc here?

    Thanks J168 :D

The photos were all taken by professional photographers that were set up the shows. They would take a photo of each car as they entered the show and again as the awards were handed out. The studio would have a booth at the show and sell the photos. Hot Rod magazine ace Eric Rickman was one of the early photographers.

I didnt realize that was how it was done back then (born a bit too late). Fairly similar to the guys today who snap your picture and hand you a business card to take to their booth!
Thanks for the info, and keep the great pictures coming!
