EASY counting steering wheel splines for OLD eyes

    if your eyes are like mine....it's tuff to see those little splines, much less count them accurately.

    a trick for us with poor eyes.....wrap a piece of alum foil around shaft splines. rub it well, then lay the foil flat and count the splines

    great tip could have used that three weeks ago putting the 50 car steering wheel on my 54F100 and yes they are the same.

    Interesting idea, I suppose you just have to mark the end point so you don't count splines for more than one revolution. Still a neat trick, spline counting can be a pain in the ass.

    Hey great tip. Good tip for counting axel splines also.

    Wrap the foil around the splines, then pull a craft knife along one of the spline grooves where the foil overlaps. Then you know you've only got one circumference.
