Default Muncie & Saginaw 4-spd Shift Patterns

What are the shift patterns for the Muncie & Saginaw 4-speed transmissions? Do both have reverse in different positions from one another?

I.e:

1 3
|-|-|
2 4 R

Thanks.

Duh, I must have screwed up my linkage on my Saginaw...my reverse is left & down. It works fine & feels natural, so I guess I'll leave it like that.

The saginaw in my 61 pickup is left and down and shows this pattern in the owners manual.

That's interesting. My Saginaw is a Model 441, but I really don't know what year it is. I know it's a car trans, because of the gearing. I had a helluva time trying to find a gear shift knob with the correct (or would it be "incorrect") pattern. It feels real comfortable to pull the thing left & towards me.

It is as simple as flipping the lever. as long as it doesn't hit the speedo.

I think everyone HAS to do this once. Success teaches you nothing, thankfully the fix is simple.

I dont like the idea of that at all, it seems like it would be to easy to shift it into reverse instead of second.

My reverse lever is upside down on my Muncie for clearance reasons. It's left and back. No issues what-so-ever with second gear. Works for me.
