Where are you getting all these cool parts and stuff from?? I need a woman with your parts finding skills! Doc.
Does anyone have the original Hurst 3-speed shifter? The one with the barrel style top with the plastic sides and chrome center? Most guys I discuss shifters with have never heard of that design. I bought the first one in the door from Don's Speed Shop in Metuchen, NJ in '61.

Satan - This is great stuff, and an extremely valuable service - not only to HAMBers, but to gearheads everywhere. As we all know, there are thousands of unidentifiable Hurst mounts, rods, etc. floating around (swap meets, etc) - but hardly any way to know what they fit. Your photos are also very valuable for those who may want to try fabricating thier own mounting hardware. Hopefully this will catch on, as there must be several others who have some old Hurst parts (who's application they know) on hand that they could shoot and add to the thread. I'd like to see this become a regular part of the HAMB tech section. Thanks a million for thinking about this, and for taking time to put up these photos. P.S. Back in the day, I had a small speed shop and recall having a Hurst parts catalog that showed virtually every individual item they manufactured - including all the shift handle options (with dimensions). MUCH more comprehensive than what's on-ine now). Of course, I tossed it long ago, but have wished a hundred times since then that I had kept it.

While on the subject of Knobs , If you are going for something and you want it period correct ( depending how crazy you really wanna get ) Knob patterns differ.. The newer style small thread patter on the left ,,original on the right.. These are both small thread knobs
Gather round kiddies as I tell you the story of the S/L -PO-64 Conversion kit. This is for the Heavy Duty Fully Synchronized Ford 3- Speed with 9 bolt top cover. Well, long long time ago in the land of GM,,there was a 1964 Pontiac Catalina Sadly the lil ( not really lil but you know ) Catalina was born with a birth defect,it had an arm sticking out of its steering column. luckily the parents of this lil Catalina did pretty well in life and were able to have the unsightly arm taken off of the steering column and down onto the floor.. The lil Catalina was so happy and the other cars laughed at it no more. And they all lived happily ever after **yes i was dropped on my head as an infant** Mounting Bracket #2823 Brace #2326 Levers #1573 #2320 Rods #2105 #2827

I bought a SBC Hurst Cradle mount the other day and I have a few questions that might be of some help to this thread. Did Hurst stamp their name onto both ears of the cradle? The one that I have does. Did the "U" brackets that are used between the frame cushion and the cradle on '35-'40 frame come as part of the Mount or did they have to be fabbed up? Is a 1/4" space between the block and the mount necessary to clear the timing cover on a SBC? Yesterday I went out and tried to just look how the mount went on the block and it seemed to hit the timing cover and the bolt holes looked like they were not perfectly aligning themselves to the holes. Then I started digging around and found those "U" type spacers that people use but cannot find them to buy.
There were 1/4" spacers that came with the motor mounts that went between the mount and block to space it out from the timing cover. The U spacers were used between the mount and the rubber Ford insulators to raise the motor for clearance. The ones that I used in 1961, had a bolt that preloaded the engine mount combination to reduce clutch chatter. They didn't work very well. HemiDeuce.
