Well, I can not believe 67Imp.Wagon has not spread this joyful news so I guess I will. The extra hokey sequel to “Hot Rod Gang” called “The Hot Rod Gang Meets the Ghost of Drag Strip Hollow” is now on DVD. It is on a two movie DVD from the MGM Midnite Movies selection and it really is a decent transfer. The other movie is “The Ghost in the Invisible Bikini” and features the hero of all HAMBERS Eric Von Zipper.

You will get to see the same wacky gang from “Hot Rod Gang” minus John Abernathy the Third (I can’t remember the actors name) and Gene Vincent, but you do get a wacky Parrot named Alfonso who is just so much cooler!

This time the chicks get to tear up two 32’s at the start instead of the guys from the first one (do I smell formula?)

The Parrot has all the best lines…

    “Polly want a cracker?”

“Why the hell would I want a cracker?”

Instead of Gene Vincent you get some 40 year old guy singing a song about being tongue tied and in love…really rocking stuff that one is!

Tommy Ivo is in it…and the girl drives a beat up 32 cabro and the evil girl is in a 32 roadster.

Some of you might want to pick this up…but it begs to ask “Why the hell have they not put out a good non bootleg copy of HOT ROD GANG yet?”

Anyhow, thanks for telling me about this one Imp!!

DVDs aren't traditional...I watch all my movies on reel to reel.

You can get some great '70s hair porn on R-to-R from yard sales.

Now that you let the secret out there goes my chance of makeing millions on Ebay.

It is a pretty good copy and in full screen like I like.

Ghost in the invisible Bikini is in widescreen. I just don't like not useing my screen to its full potential.

I got tired of waiting for some of these to come out on DVD so I bought Dragstrip Girl and High School Hellcats on VHS on Ebay today.

Bass, are those 8mm or 16mm. I could actually have a showing if they are 8mm. Who could resist big bush on an 8X8 screen.

John Abernathy lll was played by John Ashley! (later he married one of the Beach Blanket starlets, Deborah Walley)
Deb's Dad was an executive/producer at Warner Bros., and got John Ashley behind the camera in the '60s; "A-I" corp. was under Ashley's regime, and he shelved all the hot rod movies for a number of years. (popular consensus had it that he did it out of 'embarassment'...met him once when doing a Levi's modeling shoot for Hot Rod Magazine. Nice guy)

Holy Cow...Just realized this was an ooold post....but it's a testament to my memory!

  9. Sucks it isn't widescreen.

I have that film on vhs. Funny thing is, they used left over footage from Hot Rod Gang in it! Talk about a cheap B movie!

Tommy Ivo has his dragster in it and talks about it.

The footage of the '32 in the LA river is cool because it's the real thing.
