frame tolerance

    i am trying to save a 34 ford frame,what is acceptable 16th 8in. i know dead on would be the best case.it is driving me nuts,no jig.i get it good in one place and bam it goes out some place else.i do tack braces as i go.got any tips?thanks

    1/16th would be great, 1/8th would be ok, 1/4" or so is what you usually have to live with....

    the best i can get my trans cross member centered is + or-3/16ths is this going to be a problem later on with drive train alignment?34 ford frame.thanks
     

  5. I would think you could work with 3/16". It would depend on the front and rear suspensions to take out the slack, but I wouldn't worry too much about that. By the time the vehicle is loaded and aligned, you shouldn't even notice. I'd bet that was within original tolerances.( I could be wrong on that. It's happened before. Once.);)
