Technical 12 volt OD solenoid in a 6volt car

    I have a T86 top load trans I want to put in my 53 ford The car is 6volt Ibeleive the solenoid is 12v . Any input on this problem would be great. Thanks for any help

    Well.... You could use a 6 volt relay to switch in a separate 12 volt battery. Or you could try and build this simple circuit.

    Use a pre-'55 Ford or Merc solenoid.

    I'd bench test it. If it fails, plan on spending about $200 for a new/rebuilt 6V solenoid.
