Remember the covair engined T roadster that was at the Street Rod Nationals in Tulsa in the 70's? As I remember, there was a picture in a magazine of the guy in the car reaching waaaaay up at a drive thru window....the entire car must have been 26" tall.
I never thought so. Even if you can pick it up for cheap, why spend the money on a car your not 100% excited about, its like dating a fat chick with a pretty face.
Yeah, they are cool, probably not the most Hamb friendly of cars but cool none the less. I know several Hambers that own Corvairs. HRP
In A&P school I had a instructor that had a 396 in his hooked to the stock transaxel. The front and rear fenders were shortened, It was really cool. But really the only one that I ever wanted. Wish I had a picture for you.
My first car was a 62 4 speed it was cool then, But I say no, They did make a kit for mid engine small block in the 70s
I built a front-engined V-8 Corvair convert for a guy in Texas and it turned out to be VERY quick, totally cool. Pics attached.
4-lug wheels ... need I say more? Not cool... if factory fresh. (Man that's one big "if") Can it be made to be cool, sure. Who cares? You obviously. Why? It's your decision... nobody else's opinion matters. Therefore forget this post and all the others
Corvairs are so far out they're in. You don't have to do anything to that one it's already black with moon discs. Don't forget your propeller beanie.
I have two of them and they get as much favorable attention as my Roadster. That one looks to have a nice interior and good body.
I am in Illinois and would be interested if you are not. I think they are great little cars. This one appears to be an automatic. That's a downside to me but the sheet metal and interior seem to be decent. How reasonable is reasonable???
Corvairs and Volkswagons dont have real engines, so NO, not cool. They are not traditional hotrods or customs either
Yes. I think there was an optional turbocharged 'vair, but I don't know what years they would have been on. Unless you want to to a sbc swap, there isn't much you could really do with it hot rod wise, but it would make a cool cruiser.
