Got a idea that I needed to try and make a bomber seat. It's not perfect and is my first attempt at one. Trying to buck rivet the entire seat together. Here are some pictures. Let me know what you think. ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1394845593.553990.jpg

Didn't quite have time to finish it up today. Always looking to expand my fabrication skills. Went a little crazy with the dimple dies. Building myself a english wheel and planishing hammer in the next month.

    Thanks,

    Brad

A very nice job but you could not get me to park my old fat ass in one.

As cool as they are, there's a reason you don't see them used a lot. Even with a pad, the ride has got to be one of a kind. Still looks like nice work.

which aircraft blueprints or manufacturer assembly plans did you follow from a seat that was used in an actual military bomber??? Just curious.

if you contour it to suit your ass shape, it,ll make it more bearable.

Good on you for giving it a go.

The angle of the back looks a little extreme though - have an idea your ass (and cushion if you use one) will be sliding forwards without something at the front to stop it from doing so. And contouring the shape for both your ass and back will go a LONG way to making it bearable for anything much more than 10 minutes once the novelty of it wears off. That said I did a weekend of top end runs on a very bumpy dry lake track sitting in one with no padding, never felt any of the hits...

Looks like good work. I think it is cool when you build stuff out of your comfort zone.

  8. Unique look & nice work but are you going to be driving in a reclined position?

It would absolutely kill my tailbone! HRP

  9. Have you sat in it yet?????

Especially with the padding most people seem to forget they had!

Haven't sat in it yet . Going to finish it up Monday after work. It is on a severe angle. Like I said it was my first attempt at making one. Don't actually plan on using it. Just got back from picking up some steel to make my english wheel out of. Hopefully have pictures of that soon also. Got to many projects and to little time. Should start reassembly on my 350 sbc for my 61 apache next week also

Nice work, as low as the back is it would probably fit my wife. It might work for one of the severely chopped and channeled Model A's that some of the guys are building.

First a seat to see if you can do it and then an english wheel. Now we all want to see the english wheel progress.

Very nice work, think if you make more they should have a higher back and be less of a lay down angle. If you make the side hole a slot, it could be used for belts. Great work though!!
