Sometimes when it rains, it keeps raining...

Just found my 29 Phaeton not too long ago.
    http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=772795

And soon after I "tripped" on this one....(Tudor was always a favorite)
Rust free, brand new wood, tons of parts, on a rolling (current safety and registration) chassis.
It got loaded on a barge on Maui yesterday.
It arrives on Saturday morning....can't wait to open my present...that I just wrapped.

    Plans:
I plan to run it with the banger, some numbers on the doors, lower it a little and upgrade the brakes.
That way I can keep my focus on the Phaeton and have something to drive. When the Phaeton is done...? I'll probably changed my mind hundred times what it'll look like / drive train by then.

URGENT: Charger and Duster for sale!

    Aloha
    Tommy

Been trying to shim up the body.
The radiator was much higher than the body...

I took the fat rubber washers out under the radiator.
And used a thin one from the shim kit.
The body still sits high for the hood to line up!
...But it lines up! good enough for now!

When i tried to adjust the radiator supports my radiator started leaking...
I was to brutal with the wrench...No biggie it's fixed!
('Ol man showed me how to fix a radiator when i was around 18...came in handy finally!)
I also straightened out all the radiator fins....very zen job!

    Got the Chassis Wood kit.
It comes with one big block under the first sub floor "cross member".
2 blocks under the front cowl.
2 smalle blocks at the rear frame rails.
And 2 blocks for the middle sub floor "cross member"...
BUT, there's three cross members total....
So i made a set for the rear one.

7 pieces total. Shouldn't it be 9 pieces?

    Aloha

The rear bumper bracket put the bumber half a mile behind the car!
and it was cut and welded back together crooked...

Cut it down/apart and got it back together straight.
The bumber is in the same zip code now!

Front light bracket cut and welded.
(Got some tractor lights I'm gonna put....legal....what?)

Drilled a hole in my new radiator cap for the Viking!

    Next:
Got the T-Bucket shock kit from Speedway ($135 for 4 with bolts)...cheapest bumbers i could find anywhere...
    and it'll add some bling!

I bet there's a bunch of jealous guys on Oahu. My friends over there are always looking for good Henry steel and you find two right under their noses. Good job, and keep it up. Hopefully we will be back over there soon to check them out.

  13. My moms OT car started rusting after just a few years on Kauai, how in the hell is that not rusted apart?

Front Bumper just had to go!
The doors are hung (still need to weld / re-do center hinge on passenger side.)
The Body is shimmed and bolted to the chassis.
Adjusted the steering box, grease all the joints,
Made a bracket for the front seats.
Hooked up ALL the electrical..(One head light seal beam fried right away & the brake switch is toast)

Put the windshield in tomorrow and cruise down to the local Car show.

Painted the fan blades...It looks cool but I also know now why the painted the props on planes...black radiator / black fan...

$#!+ did I run over Joey on the way in?

    Aloha T

Scored a SoCal Steering damper And a Corvair Steering box at the swap meet last Saturday.
Widdled a small bracket for it.
The car had a "death wobble" when we drove it on Maui...
...I replaced bolts, adjusted the steering box and the steering joints.
Haven't had any problems since but I figured it wont hurt when you hit the top speed of 50+ mph.

    Got the floor sealed up...kindof

And some numbers on the side....
Striping "looks far from a good distance".
    ...Gotta start somewhere?

I drive it any time I can..pretty much every day.
Top Speed (with new numbers on the doors) of 54mph feels like 95.
