I'm in Mansfield, just west of Champaign. A handful of us car guys get together for HAMB n eggs in Farmer City every Saturday morning. Other HAMBers have been known to join us from time to time.
Stick Shift (Scott) is from Lena area, I used to be from Rockford and am now living up in Wisconsin where it doesn't seem to ever stop snowing!!!!!
Rantoul here.....and I didn't know about ^^^^^^^^ Even I have met some of the Chicago area HAMBers. The HAMB Classifieds are a great way to meet people..........wait a minute, that didn't sound right....................... Tim D.
from IA but only 2.5 hours from chitown. Im in the same boat as you but 2009 will be the MEET AND GREAT OF THE HAMB for me!
The HAMB Holiday Soiree is tomorrow night (Thursday) at 6:00 pm. Well worth the drive!! And if you decide to come you might consider bringing an unwrapped toy for the Toys for Tots - especially needed are toys for baby girls, 3M to 1 yr. - Give 'em to Tiger Mark or Diamond49.
I live on the North side by Lane Tech HS. I really can't go to those b'fast meets because I have 2 boys 3 yrs old and 1.5 yrs old and they are pretty disruptive. Hopefully I can make a HRCC 'meet next year, this Thursday is bad I have to do some shopping.
Well hell, some of the HAMB'rs at the breakfast are pretty disruptive too! Your guys should fit right in... Joel
berwyn here. about 20 min out from the city, 2+ hours on days it snows and the city decides it's over butdget and it has to cut back(and you think our gov's corrupt? ha, thats nothing compared to chicago).
There are a LOT of us in the greater Chicagoland area and events happen all the time that are posted on the HAMB. How hard have you been trying? It might also help if you put something more specific than "Illinois" as your location. People might find you they knew where you were. Not TOO much goes on in the winter, but besides HRCC's party tomorrow, and the HAMB breakfast, there's also the Bare Bones' Polar Bear Cruise in Feb and HRCC's Hot Rod 101 tech series every winter month.
Yep, stop by the shop tomorrow night. Hopefully the weather will hold off!! We do the Hot Rod 101 stuff too. Check out our site, link below. Our shop puts on the Open Wheel Reunion Reliability in July. Plus our spring and fall swap meet. The Polar Bear cruise is fun. I got stuck in the snow last year in Sycamore. In the warm months there are plenty of cruise night. The Voodoo Kings put on one in Itasca. Several of us go to Elmhurst on Wed nights. Jeff, the 13,000 people at the Pileup comment is priceless! Hahahaha!
i didnt stay too long at the pileup got stuck into working. ill do my best to get out there tomorrow!
McHenry, eh? I'm a big fan of the McHenry Drive-In movie theater and their kickass mini hamburgers. I'm in Deerfield, as is 392_Hemi. There's Tub-in-da-dirt Tom in Lake Villa, Peter Pan in Cary, Fox Valley Hot Rods in Barrington, and other HAMBers in Libertyville, Fox Lake, etc. Maybe there are enough now to start a HAMB breakfast for the North/NW burbs.
Palatine here-and the 101 classes are pretty interesting for us beginning folk, nice shop, nice people-always makin' you feel welcome.
