I know some guy's don't bother to remove the door
post wood on thier 30-31 coupes. It can be a real
pain, I know! The jam wood is held in by 2 wood
screws from the backside that are trapped by two pieces
    of sheetmetal on the body.
Here's a couple pics showing where to measure for the screw placement. The first pic shows hooking the tape
on the upper piece of wood in the roof. Measure down
5 7/8" for the first one, and 16 7/8" for the second one.
I used a 1" hole saw (3/4" would be better) to drill
holes. After starting holes remove the center bit. The
top one will need to be drilled 1 3/8" deep, and the second 1 3/4" deep. Just go slow, and chip pieces out with a small chisel as you go. If you have removed all
the nails from both sides of the jam, the wood piece
    should pop out pretty easy.
This should also work for sedans. After the roof chop is done, the wood can be replaced. A little liquid nails, and
new body tacks should hold it. Use a piece of wood dowel, and glue to fill holes if wanted.

I pulled my B post wood out with the help of wood screws and a slide hammer. Worked good.

    Rob:
I tried the slide hammer on mine also, it wouldn't
budge! Proably depends on the condition of the wood.
I ended up chisling out the first piece. That's when
I tried this method, maybe it will help someone else.

I did use the slide hammer to remove the hinge pins,
    worked great!
