This post has probably been a long time coming. It's no "Take out T" but here's my chariot for the GNRS. Still a list of things to get done AFTER the show, but we've got 2 short days to finish what we can for a Wednesday night load in. Started with this. It was FREE!!!
Need to thank 3 people in a major way. 1. KA Custom. (Kevin Francis and Steve Rose). They figured out the suspension geometry and steering snafu's as well as the drive train and other assorted items. They tackled problem after problem that arose. There's no rule book on slamming a van like this. They rule. Steve made the split bumpers.
2. Tim Conder. I don't even know what to say. Hands down the most creative forward thinking artist I have aver met. The car was a mess after it was blasted and had his back against the wall since day one. He knocked out the body and paint, figured out how to hide the hinges, among a million other things. He took a simple wooden floor idea and concepted a virtual wooden wonderland I will post pics of in a sec.
3. Pablo Perez. He's a wood working mad man. Took on the challenge of building the wooden interior. It's era specific to the mid 60's theme, but design cues came from mid century modern architecture rather than automotive rolls and pleats. It's incredible. Pics don't do it justice. Every corner is rounded and curved and Pablo nailed it. It's built to used as my display booth to sell my crap out of. It has built in drawers, flat file, magazine racks and rods to hang my shirts from. It's like a miniature art gallery.
Coby, it's rolling perfection man. I'm super happy for you bro, it's going to floor everybody when they see it. Mind blowing!!!! I'm coming in in March like I said, and I'm coming to see that SOB!!!
I think you will have one of the most talked about rides at the show. It is stunning! Can't wait to check it out.
Beautiful. Incredible craftsmanship. Probably not the easiest seat to stay in on the onramps. but gorgeous to look at.
This thing really is a testament to Coby's work as an artist. You've never seen anything leave his hands that wasn't top notch work right? From the Books to the shirts to the canvas prints....it's all fucking 1st rate!!! So this truck being built this well doesn't surprise me, but see how he did it while maintaining his house, car, art and sanity does!!! It's THEE NICEST VAN in the world and one of the limelights of this years show. I just hope he doesn't care when I eat an Atomic Taco in there when I come in....does it have cup holders?
Been following this on Facebook ... I must say it F'ing rules! Can't wait to check it out at the GNRS -- see ya there, Coby! Malcolm
Absolutely freakin' killer...when creative minds and talents get together amazing stuff happens..you will have to post up pix once it is being utilized for it's "showroom" talents. Congrats on a job well done!
I've seen pics on websites during the construction and knew that this was going to be one helluva van. Expectations way beyond exceeded! Can't wait for more pics.
