I have a complete, good-running 250 with 61k original miles on it sitting in my shop. Came out of my '71 Pontiac Ventura. It's available if you're interested. I also have some split headers for it.
Sorry guys a mopar 230 and yea i know about edgys stuff and i have done a ton of reading i just was wanting to know if there was anybody that is super great with them i talked to HH fatheads they said sure no problem its going to be 3500 bones for labor my local engine place said 1200 labor they can do flatheads but im not sure how many they have done kinda deal just wanna make sure it goes to the right place im not wili about spending money but i dont mind paying for quality
I second Tom... Great guy, affordable parts. I used his mini hei, and it worked well.... Very knowledable
George Asche- 814.354.2621 Nobody better, plan to spend an hour on the phone. Like said abouve, Stovebolt is great. Shave the original head .70, get stovebolts split exhaust, dual carb manifold and talk to edgy about a crank. You should be good to go.
George is getting or has been getting over whelmed with calls. He is great, and I am pretty sure he also is in with Toms group....
I used a shop in Waco to do my machine work, bought all of my parts from Terrell Machine in DeLoen, Texas. I thing that the shop in Waco was Landsdale machine or something close. I can get you the name if you want it you can pm me, also a man in Gatesville, Texas that does Flat head Fords and has a complete machine shop in his back yard. He did the crank in my 218 MoPar.
You wer right bettyblue i did spend a little over a hour on the phone with mr asche but he has a block and is going to build me a nasty 230 flatty we talked and he said he has a 230 block thats been punched out 80 and a fairly hot cam to go with my offy dual and split manifolds and will be as close to perfect for what i want. I'm excited and cant wait
Awesome SSD... Wish I would have asked him about one last week, you'd be SOL. ha! I am building one for the future, I just hopped up the 201 for now. I have a 50's hemi, but decided to keep the flattie in the '34! Good luck and have fun. Let me know how the 230 works out.
Thanks SSD... PM me and let me know what he said about pricing to your door. That way I can make an informed decision. I found a 218 local for 125$ and can build from there.
he said if i buy the engine from him with all the parts and labor its going to be 3500 out the door and thats with a flywheel
If you want to rebuild your own engine the flathead six is a good one to start with. Very simple, parts are available cheap. Speed equipment scarce and expensive but you can get nearly as much HP by modifying the stock parts.
Wow... Terrell Machine is still in business? I bought a lot of stuff from them back in the late 70's.... LOL I have an old Dodge flat 6 at my shop, not sure if it is a 218 or 230. I am in Ft. Worth if I can help out with your motor!
