The Jalopy Journal
Thanks for the recommendations, everybody, but I've seen them all now and think the ideal set up will require different heads or a different...
I'm putting together a '65-67 283 to swap into my '64 C10 next week. It's got the early heads with no holes and I'm using ram's horn manifolds...
All the bells and whistles...I've got some work to do to make it a comfortable daily driver, but that's the fun, ain't it?
Check out a book by Matthew B. Crawford called "Shop Class as Soulcraft."
I rebuilt the 401 in my Riv two years ago, wish I had photo-documented it as well as you did. I didn't do my own machine work, either, just...
Those stance photos on the earlyclassics site are awesome. I bought two sets of rear springs for my Riv before I got the stance right.
So, I picked this up Monday. Original 230 straight 6, 3 on the tree, no a/c, no radio, no power brakes, no power steering... [IMG]
My first choice for my Riv was wires, for the very reasons you list. I like that they show off big finned Buick drums, but then I saw the prices.
Didn't they start making those curved spokes to clear modern disc brakes and give the wheel more backset?
I think both the steel wheels and the Cragars look good and both would have been an option in the mid 60s...the S/S just became so identified with...
At the risk of beating a dead horse, Amen. Excellent thread on wheel history...I'm trying to decide on what to put on my Riviera at the moment...
Hey, I forgot about this thread. I finally solved the mystery, it was a casting defect in my brand new $500.00 timing chain cover...which,...
'67 shortbed Chevy P/U, standard, my dad's custom. And a '63 Corvair convertible, standard, mom's car.
That reminds me, I need to set off another one of those insecticide foggers in my garage tonight so I can work out there tomorrow without being...
The '41 is one of my bucket list cars. I wish I had more money in the bucket and room in my shop.
In the evenings after dinner...sometimes until 10 or so, depending on what I'm doing an how into it I am. It beats sitting around on the couch...
'62 Pontiac 421 Super Duty. I'm just sayin'.
Thanks, Jeffrey. I looked for just the right color for months and I'm really happy with the way that aqua metallic is set off by the black background.
Not the nicest on this thread, but I'm pretty proud for my first build in 15 years or more. Before: [IMG] After: [IMG] [IMG] [IMG] I've got...
I got my new radiator for my Riviera from US Radiator and they have about the same thing to say about aluminum versus copper/brass as Brassworks....
Not to drift the thread, but if you enjoyed Persig, check out Shop Class as Soulcraft by Matthew B. Crawford. I started a thread about it here,...
Small claims court jurisdiction is state by state, but $5K is common. I think it's still $5K in Texas. But if you take a judgment against the guy...
She'd look better posing with the nailhead.
Don't let the target know you're talking to law enforcement, let him find out from them. It's always better if that comes as a surprise. I think...
No rust. Do I have rust on my driver? Yep. Will it be gone as soon as I can afford the paint and body work? Yep. While I had the engine out for...
I'd love to have some repros of these: [IMG] [IMG] [IMG] [IMG]
My 1967 Impala Super Sport with the original 327. I was one trim piece from perfection when I joined the Army and sold it before I went overseas....
Cool. I've got some Aussie and Welsh friends on the rugby club who will be excited about this...they're big cafe racer fans. I'm stoked about it,...
I'm assuming you've talked to civil litigation attorneys. Have the lawyers he's talked to gave him any reasons why they didn't want the case?...
Awesome. Is the Cafe Racer show a one shot deal, or will it be a series?
