Well I picked up another project. Like I really needed it. 1950 Buick Special Sedanette. Car is in great shape. Original straight 8 with three on the tree. I’m in the process of rebuilding the engine last shop really screwed it up. I already picked up a factory dual carb/dual exhaust manifold. Took .050 off the block and head to get the compression up a little. I installed 2.5 drop coils on the front with a disc brake conversion. I have a set of 3” drop coils on the way for the rear. I picked up a rearend from a 55 super so I’m going to use the center section with 3.58 gears and the larger brakes on the rear. Plans are to just make it a clean mild custom.
CG, something strange about your car! Front fender script does indeed say Special.. But the one piece windshield says Super. Neat car, but then I MAY be biased. Ben
I had one of these as a DD in the late sixties, In addition to being a great looking car, it was very tractable in an everyday role. I would have another in a minute if it were available,
If you look at the inside picture, the center trim clip has a cutout for the division trim for the 2 piece windshield. So the windshield has been changed. Good eye. Welcome to the Buick club. Beautiful car.
Very cool! I’m also somewhat biased toward 50 Buick’s after having one recently. I’ll be following along as you make progress.
Looks like a 46S with a 56S windshield. I had a Super with a broken Dynaflo. The compound carb unit off a '41?. does it have hood release cables or the key slot inside the ports on the hood?. The straight 8 is torquey.......don't forget to post the build process.
Good eye BJR. Yes, it looks like someone replaced the windshield with one piec glass. Much like you could do with early 50's chevys with an Olds windshield.
