I came into possession of a sweet little Craftsman ratchet with a built-in speed handle. I've never seen one like this before. I'm guessing it's 60s vintage. Is anyone familiar with this?
1/4 inch drive? man that is really cool. I think that V shifter is earlier than 60's. not sure though Edit, I just looked up craftsman rachet history and the V shifter was introduced in 1959 with the next iteration in 64, 65 heres a link to that page http://alloy-artifacts.org/craftsman-maker-v.html#early-ratchets
Very cool and handy while assembling an engine! Not 250 bucks cool though. I think one or 2 year production 63 &64 I think
The V shifter definitely says late '50s to early '60s. It looks like the trim on my Falcon. My father-in-law was the executor for the estate of a widow lady at church. Her husband died back in the 70s. They ran a poultry farm at one time and he had a couple of shops on the place. They had no surviving children and almost all was sold at an estate sale, including a Model T in great condition. Pa-in-law did end up with a few smaller things for his trouble. Every once in a while, he will gift a family member with an item. I have an old Eagle No. 58F oiler from that collection and my son inherited a 1950s Smith & Wesson .38 revolver. I'm kicking myself for not going to the estate sale back then.
These Snap On "finger ratchets" came to mind when I saw this thread. Not as cool as the 2 handled one, though.
