Picked up this cap the other day and was trying to figure out what it fit. I had a assortment of rotors and believe this may be for it, what's your thoughts? Thanks.

Either a 2 plug 8 cylinder or a 16 cylinder car. Only 16 I can think of is a Marmon.

Budget36, saltflats and SS327 like this.

  5. Fire trucks back in the day had redundant ignition systems so you could switch from one to the other, but usually had twin distributors.

Never seen a 16 on a Fire truck, but 12 were very common! All the trucks I worked on had twin distributors. And you could run on one or the other or both.
The neat thing is you could check the condition of either system , by noting the rpm on #1 then switching to #2, if the rpm stayed the same, both systems were in good shape! Kinda back yard check. But….. every time I would switch to “ Both” systems , the rpm would increase! I guess that kinda proves two plugs per cylinder are better!?!?!

Also notice that the rotor bug has two….” Thingys” ! That means that it either ran an eight cylinder with two plugs or two eight cylinder engines , trying to run identical!
Also notice that they are not exactly 180 degrees apart!
