Hey legends picked these up from jindera swap meet just wondering what year they are off? I thought 1930s but i cant find any photos of them. cheers
I've got to go with the aftermarket almost look like ___ Chevy concept. JC Whitney and Warshauskie ( SP????) had page after page of hubcaps in the 50's and 60's and you could buy one or four almost look like the originals caps for real low prices. That along with the custom caps that we still hunt for.
Oh ok that's interesting mate, luckily i paid $5 then haha. I have looked from 30s-50s and nothing really similar except late 30s so this makes sense, is that company still operating? Im surpised i found two of the same but strange they are a different colour
After doing some research it seems jc whitney wouldnt be able to actually use the real brands emblem and often changed things up?
Is there a possibility they were made for Australia? or other countries? However I agree with Mr48chev, aftermarket. Even knowing they might have infringed on GM's rights. As for the finish, good guess. Neat wall hangers.
49-50 Chevy car caps look like this, never seen ones like yours with the "wings",..neat tho....maybe Australian?... or aftermarket
As I recall most generally the aftermarket caps were required to bare some deviation to the bowtie or logo or risk legal action.
I once got some 38 chev caps off a 38 in a Canadian junk yard. They were cool because they were different from our American issue. Perhaps yours are unique to Canada and Aussies.
I agree with the others saying this is likely an export-only cap, or maybe some oddball truck-only thing. I highly doubt it's aftermarket since it has a pretty standard bowtie emblem on it but a different overall design. Aftermarket replacement caps usually have a similar design but a changed emblem so you could use just one or two with your original caps and not have them look odd, or something totally custom.
aftermarket hubcaps for 1949 - 50 Chevrolet's were the same cap but instead of a bow tie they just had a dash. I've also seen what I think are 1948 Ford caps that rather than FORD spelled out they have 4 odd shapes that kind of look like Ford but are not actual letters.
Yeah after some research it seems they are probably just something they put on chevys that came here to australia
Yeah which is what the 36 holden bodies chev would have, must be only aussie hub caps which explains why i couldn't find any photos of them
