Thank you! i made some paper templates,more trunk fitting, and i have decided to follow through on re-doing the subrails. I'm 75 percent sure i can build the entire floor and subrail assembly outside of the car. Then pull the body, set up the chassis, install the floors then plop the body back on and re-shim maybe not in that order but something like that.

I wrapped up the skirts at least until its time to make brackets, then i took a second run at making the kickup sections of the trunk floor that spot weld to the wheelwells. Going to trim and tune it,then attack the other side and center section of the floor.

 

This piece was a brain bender!!!

Oh quit it haha i dont know about that. I made the other side. It was hard. Then i static fit it,measured some crap and rolled out the front half of the trunk. Getting closer!

 

Worked on the trunk riser and scribed all my cut lines, going to make a new rear trunk panel and riser.

 

Inching along. I remade the very back panel but forgot about those trunk supports i made when i rolled the beads, so i'll just have to tweak them a bit.

 

I started building the floors past the trunk riser. Its a tough spot because of the cutouts. I started by making the pieces that go from the top of the arch to the flat of the frame

 

Very nice pieces for your jig-saw puzzle; look forward to the overview. Keep plugging away at it!

 

Thanks! Ive been trying to buy a part that i need, and make a part that i need each week. It will start to get more interesting soon, for now i struggled with the floor notches today, made a bunch of scrap, and finally got a pair made that fit the riser. I still need to brake and trim the flanges.After this i should be able to knock out the floor up to the back of the seat, then its gonna get crazy.

 

I took the pieces i made back to my shop. My car is hard to crawl around in so i borrowed my shopmates 35 frame to lay out the trunk and temporarily screw it together

Last push before the new year...doesnt look like progress, but its almost all welded up .happy to be to the flat of the frame now!

Lots happened since the last update. Pulled the body, and almost have all the floors done, subrails are done.started restoring the seat, modified the tracks for strength and mounting on a flat floor, set up my roller, pedals,and steering.

Thanks guys! I painted the seat tracks and hardware ,and made a track release mechanism .did not want to wait for an original.now that its done and works well, i can make it look nice and fine tune the hardware.

 

Excellent job, that is a huge undertaking.

Im no woodworker but i think i did all right bringing this seat back from the dead.
