Hey This might be a weird request. But is there anybody on here that knows a way to create a place/bucket where one can put up good info, like a ultimate swap page. Things like this Or rear end sizes, spring measurement, what motors had what bell flange, what bell housing from what Chevy has truck side mounts and twin starter position. Some of the "life-saver" notes from you small notebooks.
The H.A.M.B. is one place. I use the search button. It's a rare case I can't find the answer to my question within minutes. Real world answers, from guys that have been there, done that.
Maybe the moderators would create a thread and make it a sticky that we could put this type information in.
Yes, some of the stuff I found took me the longest time to find pics of. Some of the other stud took me 2 minutes on the www/HAMB/google. I had the dimensions for the wide stance hurst front engine mounts, so you could make one. Even with measurements to adapt it to a stock fuel pump. Replace 9gag with HAMB and you are golden.
There use to be,like the Tech Archives, but in the new and improved version of the Hamb the heading was scrapped although all the information is still available but now you have to search for it now. HRP
That sounds reasonable, but I don't know how to find it or at to it? If I'm even allowed too? But it would be cool with a share point to put this stuff.
The search function would be of much more use and user friendly if members would stop doing cute thread titles. I see them on a regular basis, many times you have to click on them to find out what they are about, even the pop up window doesn't give you a clue. When starting a thread, give some thought to how it's worded, including punctuation to help others, days, weeks and years down the road find the info they seek. When trying to find some info and you have to do it on the whole thread and not title you are in for a loooong search time. If you feel the need to add a cute saying in the title, then fine, just add some info that will help others when using the search function.
Well put Harv-- Yep--and sometimes you still can't figure out what they are talking about, a few minutes composing your thoughts would go a long way in getting the results you are after. Just because (you) know what you are saying; doesn't always mean it translates to the printed page.
I agree with Harv, but that is out of my hands! I can only appeal to others, to do like you do in other places. But I doesn't seem to help me. Does any one know what size I should reem my 1928 front I beam, to fit the bronce bushings from a 1957 Chevy TF? Where would you get that kind og info? Stovebolt truck side, or here? Is there a carb go to guy who knows about Holly 1904? Like there is Uncle max with Old 97? Or like bubba with ignition?
I have been gathering/taking pics to do a thread on early Ford brakes, spindles, wishbones and axles. As for the search function, if you want to have some fun just pic a random word for a thread title search such as, them, doing, hey, really, wow...etc. you may pull up some very interesting reading.
The Seach function in the app sucks, so I google it and add a HAMB at the end. But I've spend the longest time researching for my Chevy, and as soon as a got done evidence I post about that crusade.
You can use Google Advanced Search for this. Just format your search like below. xxx site:jalopyjournal.com where xxx is what you want to find. For example if I want to search for nailhead BUT only want to see results at the jalopyjournal.com website then I enter it as follows: nailhead site:jalopyjournal.com All results will then be restricted to this site. This link shows you what I mean https://www.google.com/search?as_q=nailhead&as_epq=&as_sitesearch=jalopyjournal.com
