Looks like it's set up for a rumble seat too- guy on here from NH dug a car out of a riverbed (floodwall?)and posted a thread not too long ago, and it was in unbelievable shape. Nice find- go for major excavation if you can; might be the MotherLode! Score one for the hometeam!

  2. Now if you can find another one that's been lying on its left side for 60 years, you could take the two halves...

frame.JPG Ok guys, after about three replies on here confirmed my suspicions that this was an A I went back out to the ditch to take a better look. The bad news is that there is not much left of the car below the soil line, which I think we all pretty much figured. As I was looking around for the doors or more I found another car that is on it's lid and the floor is flush with the ground so it is buried good. I am pretty sure that it is also an A coupe and the doors are still on it, but I doubt that there is much more to it. I will be talking to the landowner soon. I snapped some more pics including some of the frame that is near the ditch.

Here are the pics of the second car as you can see it is partially full of water, but still has drivers fender and running board.

That's another model a. The frame is not ford, looks Chevrolet to me. Dig up and get what you can. Model a coupes are getting hard to find, even in bad shape.

If you were a thousand miles closer I'd bring a trailer, a winch and a strap.

It's worth digging out to see what the rest looks like, for sure.

If you are planning on excavating @malibumonte78 , shoot me a message. This is in my neck of the woods. Actually, I think that's in my creek...

The late 1931 Fords had a column drop and indented firewall with the gas shut off valve on the engine side. I just bought a brass column drop, should arrive any day now. I'll know for sure when I compair it with a forged steel one I have, I think the brass ones were on the Vicky and two door Pheaton and drop the column a bit more. That Coupe needs to be saved, start digging before the ground freezes.

Can any barbed wire collectors tell us what the coil of wire on the Coupe is worth? Bob

  21. There was a thread a while ago about a car in a creek and they dug it out. Anyway, the side that was under ground was not that bad. Looked like it did not rust much under ground. Just goes to show, you never know

I can't find any mention of a brass column support in the Model A Ford Judging Standards. The Convertible Sedan, Deluxe Phaeton and Victoria used a longer column support from May 1931 to the end of production and used a spacer pre May of '31. Could be an early hot rod modification. Keep digging!

I didn't have a shovel with me yesterday but I did have a hatchet with me and I wasn't finding much past the ground line of the car which sucks, but still there is like 2/3 of a coupe body there which is 2/3 more than I currently have. I was afraid that the frame was Chevy, I guess that explains the one Chevrolet Hub Cap. photo 1.JPG
Here is the original sill plate on the drivers side of the original coupe. Don't know how I missed the clue the first time I found the car.

That frame is late 20's early 30's Chevy. Nice lines on it.

Cool thanks, I see the difference. I have a hard time with it if I can't see the visor especially with so many A's out there with deuce grill shells.

OK, folks in the south look in creeks, north look in streams. Guess we're lucky being in the SW, we look in dry washes!;)
