Here's another unlikely beauty queen. I'm not at all a 4-door fan, but this Mercury does it for me.

So does this vintage Oldsmobile custom, in a big way!

Oh man, that is just outstanding! All my years living in Texas, I never heard that. Never heard that, period.

Beautiful prose, brother. Maybe it's an Oklahoma thing. Or maybe it's just your thing, I don't know, but it is rich.

Nothing wrong with a tastefully built 4 door in my eyes. 10710732_368133773353950_5634717225149921136_n.jpg IMG_0384.jpg

Had a buddy that always said "when you roll a fat girl over on her belly, she knows whats coming next"

  6. The feature car is pretty amazing and I've seen some '49-'51 Merc.'s done perfectly. 4 doors can be cool....really!

It's too bad no one told Larry Watson how uncool 4 doors are.
Poor guy obviously had no clue.

That's pretty funny......I have always admired this car ever since I first saw it in Car Craft and its taken all these years to get a smidgen of notoriety.....yes t is a great looking car. When we first started driving at 14, my buddy got his parents 1953 Olds 98 4-door when they got a new 56. He lowered it all around (and no, it didn't go up and down, and the bumper didn't touch the ground), removed the rear door handles, nosed and decked it and added skirts. I was then painted Midnight Blue. It was gorgeous. I always wanted to re-create that car.

My other buddy had a 51 Merc coupe, nosed and decked with skirts and painted black. He traded it for a 54 Ford Crestline 4-door (he was stepping up you see). He preceded to nose and deck it and take the rear door handles off, rounded the hood corners and lowered it. I was painted Robins Egg Blue. With stick and over it was a very nice ride. Its another car I always wanted to clone.

There are a few 4dr body styles that could lend themselves to be very stylish with the proper applications.... I actually have a few I wish I'd see more of:

    57 Ford Fairlane 4dr Hdtp
    46-7 Packard
    48-50 Packard
    57 DeSoto 4dr Http

If money were no object, and I could have a car for every occasion. On the nights when you want to throw on your zoot suit, take out your best girl and another couple, it sure would be nice to have a stylin' 4dr.....

like the guy said: 'I been rich and I been poor, I like rich best"

"I 've had tudors, and I've had fordors, I like tudors best "

God gave us fordors, so we would have front ends, when we wreck tudors and converts..
