Car looks great, I love the fastback style. Get it back together as soon as you can, as your kids grow it gets harder and harder to find the time & extra $.
I may still have a few NOS chrome parts for the 49-50 from my Dad's collection, pm me if there is anything you're looking for.

  3. The good with the bad. Speedway master cylinder leaked so it was sent back. Under coating was sprayed and motor was put back in.

GK what color is that ??

  5. I'm unsure right now of the exact paint code. Troy at the shop gave me 1 of 5 spools of green paint chips. He knew we had it narrowed down to that group of green. I chose one and he ran with it.

I guess you will not be needing the high compression head…

  17. My dad found this radiator at a yard sale for $100. It's for a 62 Nova but looks like it's going to work on the Poncho.

13, Wish I'd seen this thread from the start, because I also would have encouraged you to keep the inline 8. I've been driving a Pontiac 268 straight 8 all over the Midwest for many years at 70+mph with a 3:63 gear at 3,200 rpm. all day long--no sweat. Part of the problem is we're all spoiled by our "new cars" with lock-up and OD that cruise at 80 at 2,000 rpm. But your flattie probably sounded "wound up" because it was worn out and got noisier the higher the rpm went. (and it probably has a 3:90 or 4:10 axle which dosent help either). In good tight condition, you shouldn't even hear what's making that '50 move at 70 mph. And I've seen a lot original engines pulled for just the same reason. I had a fast-back '50 once, and yours is going to be a good looking and a great cruiser when your done. I know the 350-350 is cost a efficient and easy swap, but--you know,--every body has one.

  21. Bought a fan shroud and it just wasn't doing it. So Troy of Redrum Customs made me one.

13, You might have better luck selling your engine by emailing an ad to the Pontiac-Oakland Club International web site. You'll reach exactly the right people there.

Great story and nice progress. I'm glad to see you improved the motor mounts. A friend of mine has his first car its a '58 Ford but is't been sitting for many years. I don't think he will be able to get to it because of health reasons. I'm hoping to buy it from him.

going to be farther ahead of me, since my help flaked out on me . I now have to do a bunch of things before I can start on mine , like reorginize the garage then figure a way to move the body and frame seperate ( all welding has to be done outside , but HOA ( condos suck !!) doesn't allow projects to stay in driveways ) but have them back together in the same space . as the car is stored offsite .

That's not a fan shroud, that is an air dam. I am pretty sure it will be a problem unless it is moved back from the core. You already know air must flow thru the fins. The advantage to having a shroud: air is pulled thru the entire core.
