Got these in a lot of parts from a guy in his 80s. I assume they are originals, any idea if they are and what they are worth? Posted using the Full Custom H.A.M.B. App!
They are worth more together. I'd guess about 400 or so for the three. I just sold one for 100$ with a tab welded on that needed to be cut off.
Damn. Those are Sharp Stromberg toppers. Pretty damn frekn' sweet man. Sharp Pilkington speed products. There's information in here somewhere. Another thread chasing day reading along......type SP in maybe ? Or just wait for a better answer to arrive shortly......
I have something of a knack for finding hard to find items but certainly struggled when it came to original SP tops. I picked up half a dozen in the past two weeks but boy are they a bitch to find. Nice find, I PM'd you.
They provide immeasurable boners upon first sight for Stromberg fans.......thereby increasing trouser performance. Sure do look cool though, don't they ?
Ignoring the fairly disingenuous implication that unless there is a documented added function they shouldn't be fitted a quick search for 'SP tops flow' here on HAMB finds the thread below. You will see that there were advantages, primarily in terms of air velocity versus CFM, with an oval v circular mouth AND the radiused edge. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/threads/stromberg-gurus-flow-of-sp-scott-tops.212549/
Those are the original issue tops with the SP casting. When TransDapt got them, the SP came off. I purchased the last inventory from TransDapt sometime in the 80's, but have parted with all but 3. The $400 figure is probably about right but some people get an itchy trigger finger on Ebay. You just never know.
no fairly disingenuous implications, just a simple question. "they flow better" would have been just as easy to say, but then you would not have had the chance to impress us all with your extra special vocabulary.
sorry, disingenuous is special?? It's all good...I just thought you were maybe saying without an added function they shouldn't be used.
