Yeah man. On a vintage style race car, to me, i want the lettering to stand out. Even if that means sorta kinda going with a blandish factory color. Thats what kids in the early 60's woulda started with. I caught some flack from my bud's for wanting to paint mine that mint-teal color, they told me it looked like the color of a toilet in a single wide trailer...dicks. But I dig it and its my car and my pain in the ass aggravating project to deal with sooooooo....my shits gonna be mint-teal-trailer-toilet green. And im ok with that. Lol

Funny, you aren't the first person to say 62 gold.

I love the look of that Thompson and Poole car. (Jr. Thompson). I wonder if that paint is 1962 Honduras Maroon. I also like the unique pinstriping layout and the American Racing Lemans front wheels. That car really has the look.

Honduras Maroon with gold leaf lettering would work!

Thats another advantage of the gasser stance. It's easier to get under it , you might not even need to jack it up to do an oil change.

I decided my exterior color is 1951 ford truck alpine blue.

Interior will be a choice of two colors. Alpine blue or silver for dash and most likely a different color for glove box doors and silver or black for trunk area. The blue and gray dash in the picture is most likely the idea I'm following.
I figure keep it simple and stock as it's the bare canvas and hopefully the lettering will be the highlight.

Either white or black tuck and roll and NO tweed interior.

I'll probably get death threats but i'm thinking of polishing my halibrands for the rear and chroming my front steel wheels.

I'm getting the impression tweed is not very cool? Should I tub the rear?

    Just kidding.

Just ran across this thread, awesome work! Most people would think we are crazy for trying to repair something in this condition, but I totally respect it. Keep up the good work, I will be awaiting finished pictures with paint and interior.

I'd go with Alpine Blue on the dash and Navy blue tuck and roll for interior, and then use the Navy blue for accents on the dash in the same style as the red one in your pictures......just my 2c

Ohh that looks good. Nice break from all the other ones. Especially when you add the lettering.
