I ended up having to replace that burnt valve!! That thing was burnt pretty good! I was looking through my spare parts bin and found a brand new one! I lapped it in and have a good seal! Good thing on this 59A, is that somebody put 8ba style valves and one piece valve guides in! it also has an 8ba crank. Its almost all cleaned up, just need to clean the pan and then a new coat of paint, and then into the car!! Well maybe after it cools down! I will get some pics up soon!

  2. cool! gonna be September before it cools off over there! UGH!:(

Yeah, I know! but it was over 100 today!! I did get the engine all cleaned off and ready for paint. It was kind of smokey though, from at least 3 fires with in 10 miles of my house! Its getting pretty serious! They have level 3 evacuations for two areas here in our valley. One of the fires jumped the road and I guess a couple houses burnt down tonight! We were out late watching the flames in the hills. Pretty surreal! Fortunately, we are in a good spot low in the valley and not to much dry fuel around the house. The National Guard showed up today too. There were a couple of blackhawks with water buckets flying up and down the valley.

  4. the fires are cause for worry! wind is your biggest enemy blowing hot embers everywhere. time to fire up the backhoe and make a fire line.

Wow! just got internet back on! But still no power! So running off a generator! They say maybe a week for power! The good news is the fires burnt south and east of me. Lots of friends have lost their homes to the fires! It looks like a war zone up here, with Pateros to the south being the worst! I will post some pics of the fires and damage soon! The worst thing is that there are scum bags going around looting! So kind of hanging close to the house keeping and eye on stuff! I really don't want anybody getting into the garage or trying to steal the generator! As soon as the ciaos passes, I'll get back to the 36!

Hope everything is going alright. I was dropping water in the Valley today (I'm in the big green Chinook) and saw it get pretty bad...

Hey RainierHooker, I sent you a PM back, thanks for checking in! Man we just can't get a break up here! Another fire just started this afternoon at about 2:00, the wind was blowing and it was about 100 degrees out! It took off so fast and was burning up house! Hopefully nobody got hurt and got out of the way! Pretty scary from the ground too! It was about two miles away from my house and the wind was blowing away from us! Thanks RainerHooker for your help on the fire! it looked like a bees nest with all the helicopter in the air! I did see you fly over, I was one of the looky-loos on the side of the road watching! You guys are good at what you do!

Good to hear that you are safe. They called in everything they had today but more than a few houses were lost on that flare-up. I'm flying out of Omak, and will be in your area for a while. Stay safe down there.

Just got an iPhone , I'll try and upload some pics!!! Anyways, fires have calmed down and it's almost life back to normal! I did get a set of new www's on the 36, cleaned off all the old rubber floor mat and oiled all the moving parts like hinges and regulators! I also have the 59a all painted up, just need to torque the heads down and slip it in! I'm going to try and get it ready for the flathead run next month, we will see!

You done good. I hope you ain't got dogs with them blingy blingy rims and gangster white walls. Dog pee's rank as acid. Best advice, from an Ol' Southern Boy --- that happens, put a 'lectric fence 'round it. Problem solved. From what I see, it ougta clean up, real good. You get it cherried out, go buy a stack of hankies --- an' wipe the silly grin off your face. 'Cause Bubba, it's yours to mess up, now!

This is just a scramble to get it ready for the E vs W reliability run! I plan on blowing this one apart at some point and going from the ground up! Well that's the plan as of now anyways! I know that sometimes you just end up doing a little here and there and just end up driving them! I do have a dropped axle and juice brakes for it, but I don't think I'll get that done before the second weekend of next month!
