Thanks to Geoff and GaryD for your positive comments.

C'mon guys post and tell what's happening in your garages whilst your hot rods rest in impartial hibernation

  5. Hey Tommy, hoping to start work on this 53 customline real soon, my Dad had done a full rebuild on it just before passing away and it has just been sitting in the shed ever since. The plan is to go over it all mechanically, put some big white walls on it and lower it all round, hoping to have it driving by summer for my niece who played a big part in its initial build. I'm sure my good old Dad will be really happy to see it back on the road again!!!

GaryD i think this will be an amazing achievement for you and your family! cusso looks super cool and will be further complimented with your subtle planned changes. Will you bring this down to the Port Fairy run next year?

I just rebuilt the Trans in my coupe over the last couple of weeks. While the rear end was out I put in a lowered spring I bought at a the Castlemaine swap. Saturday night was the first time I had left town in it. I did about 80 K's return. It ran well.

Thanks Tommy, It's an older resto. I've been tidying it up, 12 volt, suspension, brakes witch will remain mechanical, Trans, removed the bumpers and dropped the headlight bar. I'd love some 16" or 17" wires one day. I'll run you through it at Nagambie.

Wardog Dean Bassett had one exactly like this a few years ago. it was a killa black coupe that had that wheel and tyre combo and a 2.1/2" drop axle done by Paige. Coupe had a killa stance and looked awsome. I will see if i can dig up some pictures on it.

  14. Hey Tommy the plan with the Dad's old cusso was to have it back on the road within the next 1-2 months, I cannot wait to drive it down the road and get my niece involved. I Also changed the steering wheel on the roadster last night to a repo 40 model style wheel. ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1406611020.124284.jpg

Tommy I'd love to see photos of Deans coupe. I have an A axle that has been dropped about 2" or 2.5" but will see how much I can get out of the front spring. I have already reversed the main leaf but will play around with the pack a bit.

Mate those steering wheels are gold I also put one in the pickup smaller diameter makes it extremely practical without loosing any of the killa looks

Hey sideshowrob thanks for that connection I always wondered what happened to it, I haven't been past to see Dean in a while. I'd say your mate is one lucky guy he must be wrapped with it!

Wardog your coupe should look like the old black coupe with that drop axle job! I hope the pictures helped.

image.jpg image.jpg image.jpg image.jpg image.jpg image.jpg I have been wanting to get some traction in a wild flathead build for my Aussie coupe for some time now. I have accrued all the parts for it and will be completing the porting of the intakes and valve pockets in a couple of weeks, exhausts are done. However I want to share with you the most complicated part of the build so far and that was in the ordering of the custom pistons for the Baron racing heads. The nature of the deep combustion chamber inherent with my heads meant I could not use the Ross pistons that came with my Scat kit and that I had to work with Arias on realising a set of custom slugs. Hopefully the pictures will tell all and fill in all gaps in my write up! I would like to thank Nick Arias for all your valueable help and direction, you where a true professional throughout the entire ordering process and made this easy for me.

Tommy, saying my old bag o bolts could look like the black coupe is a huge compliment. Maybe one day. You have some very serious speed gear in you're hands I can't wait to see you're truck and that engine.

Hi Rat thanks for your contribution to this lul in the LGS build.

The build plan for the Aussie coupe motor are as follows:
    • 4.1/8stroke scat x 3.5/16 Arias pistons, scat rods
    • Billet main caps by Flathead Jack
    • Full flow oil system Mellings HVP
    • D port intake job
    • Flowed 1.5" Flathead Jack valves E+I
    • Isky single valve springs + Flathead Jack valve retainer
    • Hollow adjustable Johnsons
    • 425 Potvin
    • Modified Schiefer magneto
    • Pruned 4-71blower + Barons
    • 409 chev water pump
    • Looking into 4 97s on custom manifold
I hope to have this built later this year fingers crossed.
