Don't know if this has been posted before but don't actually care...it is just too cool to not re-post if it has. Some amazing footage and the Customs that show up are iconic and to die for.......enjoy! http://youtu.be/z5ENn_hxv64 It is from http://www.seabrighthotrods.com
i think this may be the only footage (at least that ive seen) of Tommy Lee and Bob Rufi in their machines. this is amazing footage.
Saw it too, and was blown away. It's like watching a don montgomery book! Thanks DETONATOR DAVE AND ALL WHO PUT THIS TOGETHER!! TP
Thanks for posting this, Jack! Just saw it on Facebook, too.... What a great, very rare, glimpse into the way it really was! Malcolm
Thank You, I needed that. I'm just going to work shortly, facing a huge problem with another employee and dreading it, but now I'm less stressed after seeing that.
I woke up to a email this morning with a link to the vid on youtube, utterly incredible. This is only the second piece of footage I've seen of prewar dry lake racing. 5 minutes of Heaven!
OMG...thats incredible. Am I seeing as many MAXI head conversions as I think I am or are they actual production overheads swapped in?
Well I knew they weren't SBC's ...but I was thinking there might have been SOMETHING! I guess there really wasn't much else though when you think about it! Really surprising how much performance engine equipment was available back then. We tend to focus on after the war but it was obviously going strong well before!!!
Had to watch again. Any hot rodder worth their salt will not only watch this but yearn for the past....the little bit of past we try so hard to recreate in the cars we build and drive.
Those would be Riley OHV heads, Supercharger is Mercedes. The car is the Modified of Bill & Tom Spalding. Don Blair owned it postwar and is known as 'The Goat'
