Well I got some more motivation to work on the chevy (and more money)So i headed out to the metal supermarket to get some sheet metal to try to get this damn chop done. This is my first chop so no shit talking It doesnt look like much right now but im learning as i go here. So well see how it turns out with my plan i have formed. Its prob the hard way but it will get done none the less.
looks good. use long strands of kitty hair (fiberglass) bondo. then use regular bondo over the fibereglass.
DIRTYT, the chop looks really good to me ! Nice proportions and nice flow of the back window ! I bet you will be totally satisfied with it once you have finished the "rough" spots. If I remember correctly you also want to hardtop the Chevy, right ? Please keep the pics coming.Really interesting ! Thanks.
[ QUOTE ] I'm planning to chop my ply next winter, How did you learn to do it, books??? [/ QUOTE ] Keep reading here and ask alot of questions. Thats all i did. i tought my self how to weld.(still working on it) and i just went for it. And staring at picturs of choped cars for hows into the night helps to And i am hardtopping it to. I kinda regreat going this route cause its just making it that much harder for me. but it will get done some day. Thanks for the good feedback guys makes me wanna keep going at it! Bryan
That's great, I'm glad you got motivated to work on it. You'll never learn until you do it, so keep on working.
From what i see, it has a really nice flow to it. Looks really nice, and i'm looking forward to seeing it progress.. I did the same as you with my 53..kinda took a deap breath, and started cutting.. I learned a LOT throughout mine, and i'm sure you are too. Nice job!! Tony
Nice work Bryan...........just think how much more fun Billetproof this summer will be cruising in that bad boy..............it will at least get your mind off the hangover!!!
no more progress for today. i just grinded on it a little bit then had to go drop off the galaxie to its new owner finaly, and pick up a side job. But i allmost killed fathack so that was kinda funny damn sticky rear brakes haha Im going to jump back on it saterday night or sunday i hope. ill post more pics then. but thanks for all the good comments guys. im preety happy with how its comming along. its just slow going.
i like it. dont sweat the little things, it'll come together in time... i been welding for over ten years now (not professionaly) on cars and other little **** and i still aint got it right! one thing we kinda forget about is that we ALL learn something new every day. like today i learned never use your old ladies rubber gloves when cleaning up an old rocker cover... Traves

Looks sweet. I'll have to check it out when I come to pick up the scrap iron... I mean Stovebolts. Looks like tomorrow's out, lotsa snow coming. Maybe Sunday? Jay

Ha! I started reading this and I was like "first chop? Bullshit!" Then I checked the date. Do a search for "Space Herpie". That car has been the subject of many an interesting thread.
