My buddy bought the outlaw 32 3window coupe featured on the cover of The Rodder's Journal #5. It hadn't run in years and was just mocked with a flathead for TRJ cover. There was evidence it had been Y block powered at some time, so that's what its getting. It's being brought back to life at Street Toys in Juarez, Mexico(www.streettoysmx.com) and should be running very soon. I'll try to post progress pics when possible.
My buddy's plans are to have it running and driving in time for GG Scottsdale next month. And then to show it at the GNRS in January. I thought I had more pics of it in progress, I'll look.
Couldn't find my other pics, but I went to Street Toys today and took some new pics. I even got to sit in the car!
Thanks for posting. I always wondered what happened to that car. It looks like it's in good hands now.
I would be very nervous having something so valuable across the border with all the unrest and violence I read about so often in Mexico. I mean no offense to the folks working on the car.
I allways thought that was a very cool car. Glad to see it going to be on the road. What is the shop rates at this place?
Outfrigginstanding! Love that bad ass coupe. And our gang has become totally into the y-block scene. What a great overlooked mill that has really come into it's own in the last few years. Congrat's!! ~sololobo~
Yes, how about a bit on the craftsmen! Looks like they turn out great work, and we shouldn't be xenophobic about quality.
I don't think he's being a xenophobe about the border situation. It's not irrational to be concerned about the very real crap going on around border towns. That said...I'd like to hear more about this shop too. Seems like a cool bunch a guys.
...That all looks like top notch stuff! Another vote for some backround on this shop and their work!!!
Well, my buddy's cousin stumbled upon this shop on one of his trips to Juarez, looking for old cars. When he told us about the quality of their work, we too were a little skeptic. When we went on their website and saw some of the projects they were working on, we were hooked! We started taking cars over for them to work on and haven't stopped. It's been about 5 or 6 years and we have become good friends with them. The quality is top notch, the turn-around time is quite reasonable as well as their prices. Check out their website at www.streettoysmx.com and check out the Willys pick up in the Rodder's Journal #48!
My buddy just got back from J-Town and he says the car is just about done. The brakes are done, the engine fires up, the clutch works. Should be all done early next week, so it looks like we're on schedule to take it to GG Scottsdale!
WOW,the car looks awesome. I wonder if Matt ever sold the road agents club car he had on e-bay too ???
I'm sad it left New england. I wish I had the money but i didn't. I don't know if he has the club car still.
Now that nis one BAD ASS HOT ROD!!!!!! I would leave it the way it is and drive ther dam wheels off of it....WAY COOL!
