Thinking, they're ALL KOOL ! Individual ideas are what make the CAR Hobby what it is, an art form of expression of an individual ideas. I've always been a 49/51 Mercury fan, I now have one, definitely not on a top 20 list, BUT, 1 Mercury in my garage (Bird in Hand, 2 in Bush), Cruisin Down the Road... Just Me and My Mercury

I am not nearly as knowlegeable as the rest of you when it comes to Mercs, but here is one that I have loved since the first time I saw it (LSRU 2010). I saw that it was for sale not very long ago.

And also the one I seem to get to ride in the most - Dave Pareso's

This custom Merc is for sale. If anyone is interested send me a PM and I'll let the owner know.

I think this one would definitely be on my list.

  9. I gotta add @flamedabone's Merc, not just because it turned out great, but for the sheer determination to build something awesome out of nothing.

  13. I remember that article I believe it was critiquing the Bugarin Merc. It was interesting.

I do find that fadeaways are often times an either or for Merc fans many seem to think they take away the one thing, the dogleg, that really sets the Mercury apart. I went back to look at the Merc's you posted with fadeaways and it funny because my tastes are kind of the opposite of yours. I for the most part don't care for the fadeaways that are not a straight continuous line. I feel if you are going to remove the dog leg then remove it don't just make it more of a smooth dip. The Hirohata being the exception because of the way the fender/skirt area is handled. I am also a fan of simple so I really like a simple grill like Sam's, Louis' first version, Jerry's car, Javier's car, personally I don't think a Merc needs anything more than that. Even the Welch car I don't think Barris did it any favours by adding more teeth to it. Like I said it's good we all like different things.

That's Dave Paras's old car, the "Jerkury". He's glassguy here on the HAMB. That car is whacked to the max, Dave is basically a midget so it works out for him, but I didn't think anybody else could fit in it.

I don`t know how to post pic`s, but this would be my pic for a more current built car. As within the last ten years. Dave Dolmans from Verdon Nebraska. I knew it would pop up eventually. I only have 11 to go. This pic makes it look like it`s in primer, it`s actually painted.

This is a nice merc. But this is a great picture of a nice merc. Love the reflection.

  19. Man, top twenty is definitely a hard decision. There's so many nice ones.
Although I've only seen pics, I think the Lord of kustom is one of my favorites. The roof has perfect flow

It was one of the last Mercs to get bumped off my list.

A builder that I was shocked and embarrassed that it didn't make my list was Kelly Puckett. He was on the list than off the list multiple times. Kelly builds a kool classy Kustom.

Always liked this - with the hood closed

  23. And speaking of Joe Bailon, here's another one that came up at the "Kustom Konference"tm to mixed reactions.
Sure was cool on the cover of "Super Customs and Hot Rods" though....

Wow! Thanks @drdave That is some heavy company to be mentioned alongside of!

Yes, the Low Life is alive and well, and living in Wisconsin. It is still in the same basic form as the picture, but the front end was repainted all purple, in place of the ghost flames, shortly after that photo was taken, I believe. The Merc was originally chopped by Paul Brewer ( brother of Charlie Brewer ) out of Hamilton, Ohio. But Low Life has been a member of the HAMB family for quite a while. It was formerly owned by @showrod , a fellow Lucky Stiffs club member, and current owner of the Von-T t-bucket. When he decided it was time to let the Merc go, I was on it like a bum on a sandwich!

Here are a couple of recent pictures of it...
