Art & Inspiration Your shift knob is ?

  1. I noticed the nice match with the horn button right away. It's in great condition and a keeper. A lot of the old plastic starts to develop a crack and craze pattern.

  6. I'll be in the swap meet area but I'm not sure if that in the arena or the covered livestock area. The past couple of years I was outside on Vendor Row with the T-shirt and massage cream sellers.
I had a lot of the general public dropping in but I believe I'll do better at the swap with guys who actually have cars and projects.
    See you there!

I've always loved those Hurst T-handles. Sort of a form-follows-function deal. And it's been a long time ago but as I recall when I got it, my old '39 Ford coupe had a white, 3-speed pattern Hurst T-handle in it.
Naturally, when I rebuilt it I wimped out and went to an automatic with a column shift....

The brass knuckles are in the t-bucket.
The piston knob is in the '35.
The harmonica microphone is scheduled for the Willys RPU.
The RPU mocked up with the chrome ball and shifter out of my old '37 Plymouth project.
Just a couple of spares I have laying around. :)

Used to run this one for awhile till I thought it was to artsy-fartsy. Cap unscrews and there's a nice cavity underneath for "things"................................................

This is my current knob. I've been debating switching it up. upload_2017-3-24_19-30-40.png

This is my "County" "Prison" shift knob. This thread inspired me to make a little display base for it today as it was just sitting in a box.

Here is my Max Grundy gas mask shift knob. It's kinda large so it will remain as a display "art" piece. I made a little display base for this as well.

I am in the process of making a shift knob. I found a very interesting coin from 1926. The content of the coin is kinda "out there" but I thinks it's pretty cool. Now I need to find an Ivory knob to mount it. Perhaps I will post a photo when its finished.

  20. Realized that I posted a picture of the '35 Chevy when it was still under construction. Here it is finished up, with carpet, door panels and the handmade shifter boot.

Door knob from my old house. Was a square shank, threaded for 3/8". Added a helicoil and good to go,
