Haven’t had any progress lately because I just purchased a house and am moving in to my new garage!

It’s a start! Gotta get my tools and the rest of my parts in there. We will see if I have any room to move once it’s all in there.

That’s the plan but in a shotgun configuration

Got mostly all of my parts to the shop today. They were all laid out on the floor so it was a good excuse for a few pictures

Picked up a 47 rear, a set of wide fives and hubs, also a pair of round back spindles with a whole front end attached. Thanks again Bob!

Progress will ensue after I move my tools to my home shop.

    That is a nice pile!
Looks like you might have fallen into a similar '3 or 4 of everything except this other part I need' hole that I did for a while, LOL!

I'd mock that up on the drop axle with the wide 5's up front and those Ford (or Jeep?) steelies in back. IIRC, Wide 5's shave about 1lb off your unsprung weight. I have them on my T build (not the one pictured below, the other one).

I don't think the 46-48 spring fits right in the A rear crossmember enough to get a good mockup BUT you can shave a 2x3 down and drill a hole in the center to hold it. I did this on a T frame with some box tubing a while back. It will sit you pretty high but give you a place to start and a way to roll the chassis around until you get another spring (see pictures below). If you don't have one already, I suggest you get a good spring spreader; those rear springs can be difficult.

What do you still need? There Ty-Rods swap is this Sunday (4/14/19) at Stafford Speedway. Then there's Lake Compounce, Fitchburg, & Epping on the 28th.

I'm going to Fitchburg and I think a lot of HAMBers are favoring that one too.

Thanks man, I definetly am at the stage of buying 2-3 of everything haha. I don’t just want one hotrod!

Those are speedway wheels brand new.

I plan on mocking up sometime next week. I work a 12 hr a day weekend shift so I get my work done during the week and subsequently am not able to go to any swap meets.

    I need bodies! I either want a coupe or a roadster 28-31.
Steering box. Haven’t decided on what one yet.
The correct leaf springs and little stuff like seals and bearings, maintenance stuff.

Almost have a complete rolling chassis.

Took the day off and went to Stafford Springs swap meet

    Here’s some of my scores

39 banjo? If I’m not mistaken

Fenton 2x2 intake that doesn’t have any signs of use. How desirable are these? I like it anyway but just curious.
    IMG_6318.JPG

A couple more v8 hub caps
    IMG_6321.JPG

Pair of friction shocks someone help me ID them!

Keep that Fenton! 2x2 is good and you shouldn't have to re-locate your generator with that one.

It’s looking like I have to relocate with the intake but it’s not an issue. I don’t mind

I have a Model A coupe with flathead built in 1954. The frame was not boxed and doesnt need it. You can do better---a lot better--- than 40 brakes. Consider Bendix Brakes from Bob Wilson in Flower Mound. Use the self adjusting parts

Got the rear end disassembled after a week of fighting “time welded” bolts. I got everyone off without a torch and without breaking anything that wasn’t already broken.

Even these nuts came off! When they say they don’t make steel like they used to. Now I know exactly what they mean.

Rear end was full of water...... luckily everything turns and nothing important seems to be rusty. Next is cleaning it all up!

Anyone have a good reference on torque specs and such for reassembling a banjo?

LOL, sounds like you are discovering that getting this old stuff apart is half the battle at this stage!

Not too much as of an update but I received my Tardel 32 style k member for the model a frame and motor mounts so this week the drivetrain should be mounted up.

I also have a lead on a 30-31 coupe body. Waiting on more pictures to see if it’s worth it.

Also might buy a coupe that is made of 30-31 cowl and doors and 28-29 back half. It also comes with a lot of 30-31 rear panels like quarters and rear window tulip panel? Quarter windows. But it’s very crusty. I’ll have to use the panels as a template to make my own panels and save as much as I can. Lots of work but a lot of room for learning and fabricating.

Don’t know what route I want to go yet. One is obviously cheaper than the other haha

Hell yeah! Trying to do it right!

Switched my front end around today to the drop axle and round back spindles. Looks much better I think

Looks good Travis. I remember when my car was at your stage of completion many years ago. Thanks for posting pictures of your progress.

Started on the rear step today, I’ll make the bottom part of the step when I flip the frame over. Don’t have a hoist in the garage yet so the motor and trans is more or less stuck for now.

Re-check the frame for square before you finish welding the bottom!

    Looks really good though!

I wouldn't trim the cross member, I'd find a different pulley. That pulley is for a '39/'40 Ford that ran the fan off the crank pulley vs. the generator. An early pulley doesn't have that and will fit. It's basically that pulley without the added length of the fan mount.

You'll want to check every hole drilled or punched in the bottom flange of the frame. Tension usually causes breaks there. If you don't elect to box it,
using a K member helps out.
