Art & Inspiration You gotta see this! Estate Sale Purchase

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by G V Gordon, Nov 18, 2010.

  1. GV, make a cube (no, not "tube") frame, get a piece of glass cut and make a coffee table with "car under glass". Hey, if Mrs. GV likes it, stick it in the living room!

X2 on pulling a mold off it, I know where you'll sell at least one...:D

  3. Looks almost like a design studio proposal;most of those were done in 3/8ths scale and that looks about the size.Definitely mid-50's Chrysler influence.Great find!

Fix it up the way you want so it looks nice, no need to go crazy, but the imperfections detract from the cool factor.

  8. Thats a really cool find! I think i would leave it as is and put it on the shelf in my garage.

i agree ,it might be a early clay model from plymouth.dont tough it until you find out if it is a orig plymouth clay model probably for the plymouth fury.it may be worth some bucks, you should definately research it.maybe with chrysler historical or a mopar site.

  21. That needs to be in my garage. Very nice piece.Paint it and keep it.

Yea, not a clay model, If you read the oiginal post it came from the prop room years ago of a Marshall Fields Dept Store.

  23. I wonder if Marshall Fields had a shop devoted to building props? I would follow that route for research. Very neat George.

I'll chime in with ''paint it nicely, 'chrome' the bumpers and put it up'' also. After you make a few more. I think that's about the coolest garage/den decor piece I've seen in quite awhile. Oh, I'd research it thru marshall fields and Chrysler Historical too if I had it. Which, if you give it to me, I promise to do!

There is a guy who comes to Donut Derelicts on Saturday mornings in Huntington Beach, CA. who brings these bigger-than-life figureens (to sell them) from long out of business companies. He currently is bringing a large fibreglas bear (I think) from a 1950s Los Angeles oil company.

It would make a killer pool table light cover.
