Art & Inspiration YOM license plates

  1. Legal in my state but you have to keep the original colors on them....they're a one-time fee and your registration shows they belong to your car... 34savethesalt9_18.jpg

Washington addressed this problem many years ago when the YOM plate program became available. Instead of using the actual YOM plate number, they assign a reference number to the car. It apears in the plate number box located on your registration. If you are ever pulled over the Officer has to run the reference number to get his info. This eliminates the double issue problem. If you had a matched pair of plates you could assign each one to a different car .

I’m VERY late in coming back to this response but thank you so much for taking the time to explain it all. Best, Dan

HRP, you could have been asked a worse question such as "did you buy it new?"

Danny, Texas allows YOM plates as long as you have both when you register the car. I've been lucky, I guess, because when pulled over two different times, the MAN just wanted to see the engine and bullshit about owning one "just like it" in the '60's.

You are right about that, ct1932ford. The LEO in Texas are more concerned about getting sniped by some Antifa asshole than checking someone's license plates.

Connecticut is good with YOM plates. Mine is a win for me because it’s my birthday, September 11, 1959.

Run one on the My Willys. Original paint, county designation is correct [D], and low registration #. All the stuff I like when it comes to plates. One of these days I'll get my butt in gear and fab an old style frame that incorporates the Johnny's topper.

Are the numbers the same on the on DMV version? Is the repro metal? If "yes" to both, just run the repro.

They are permitted in Minnesota on vehicles registered as collector cars. I tried to put them on my ot ‘69 Plymouth 3 times but each time the plate was rejected due to a conflict with a series currently in use. Each time the state kept my application fee.

I have one I’d like to use on my ‘58, they used a different sequence of numbers and letters back then so I’m hopeful that the plate will be accepted. We shall see...
