  3. Nice. Yet, I can not believe you created a green colored shift knob. I guess it will match all those OEM Superior brand metal flake green steering wheels out there that always are for sale. You can never find a like new condition red, or blue metal flake anything.... always green, or gold.

I had a coffee can of hole saw centers left over from some acrylic gauge displays that I made, that is why it is green....

He has one of everything, and never throws anything away. Not even scrap hole centers. Unbelievable!
That gauge display looks like the gauge panel for the space shuttle, lol!

I keep pieces of scrap metal and plexiglass. But never thought about keeping hole saw cut outs, lol. I used to give them ( wood ones ) to my kids to use for wheels for toys.

The green looks better but don't throw out the wood.
I never thought I would ever use the NOS 13" Superior 500 wood steering wheel I had been trying to sell for years at the swap meets - with no takers. Wood steering wheels are passé. Lo and behold, we bought an early Corvair and with a set of old Minilites, an old under dash gauge panel, some coco mats and that wooden steering wheel, it was 1964 all over again! That knob would have fit right in. :D I have trouble getting rid of stuff too.....

  15. Really hard to find. Had to finally get a red one on ebaY and cast my own new clear urethane caps for my Mysterion clone.

I tried clear polyester resin (outer two castings) and urethane. The latter are water clear whereas the former are slightly yellow. Went with urethane. The whole world is going urethane!!

  16. I bought my wood wheel in '64 for my Willys!! My dash knobs are the mini walnut barrels (3 are just out of the photo on the panel above the windshield for A/C, wipers). I have an 8-ball shift knob.

I've already posted these on other threads, but since there is a dedicated thread....here's a couple I made. Red one is an original Hurst lever with new acrylic. I made the Slick Yo-Yo out of stainless and scale model slicks. 20200326_205902.jpg 20200326_205730.jpg 20200326_205704.jpg

  18. I just picked up a couple of yoyo dash knobs 'just because' so I don't have any plans for 'em myself.
If a HAMBster needs 'em, I'll let 'em go for my cost plus a buck and a half for shipping.

Let's face it.... It's ALL just raw material to someone. I keep boxes of sawdust by species to color epoxy or superglue fills in woodworking....

  20. You do know the real reason for saying what I did about creating a green colored shift knob, to get Moriarity to post some more pictures of his KOOL stuff that he has just laying around! And he did.

  21. Here are some more pics of the wood barrel knobs in my Willys. There are two types, dash knobs like Shift Wizard shows above and in-line ones intended for door lock buttons. I used the latter on headlight and heater fan control switches by drilling them out and epoxying them to the switch shaft rods.

Mark great idea on the leftovers and it turned out great. I rarely see the yo yo shift knobs at the swaps and wonder were they went..

Here's my Hurst yo-yo 3 speed shifter. Very unique shifters you don't see everyday. Good to see there's a thread for them. Thanks Moriarity. 20201102_212122.jpeg 20201102_212304.jpeg

    Cool!

    @grey49ghost

I tried to find that transluscent pink color acrylic for the 3 speed shifter Max gave me with no luck. Looked just like that one. Had to settle for red transluscent.
